i have a brand new 15-22 pistol. i'v had it for about 6 months,never got around to shooting it. i think the new admin. is going to do something to the braced pistols, so i'm going to sell it and let someone else worry ! BUT, i just ordered a rifle 15-22 because i like the darn things even tho i havent shot it yet. and yes i have 3 new mags in the wrapper so i'm all set, what say you sages ?i'm an ex cop and nam disabled vet, so it's time to sit back a littel and let the young folks take charge.

If I had a crystal ball, I would venture to guess handgun "braces" are living on borrowed time. Fact is, certain folks would like to do away with about all firearms, but pesky things like the 2nd. Amendment keep getting in the way.
Handgun braces strike me as low hanging fruit to the gun grabbers, to be controlled by regulation via the BATFE. Good thing about them is on most handguns so equipped, you can remove the brace, and still use the handgun without it. IMHO - Look for at least a $200 tax stamp, if not a total ban in the near future.
I own several braced handguns, so am awaiting to see what transpires.

I just bought a 15-22 pistol about two weeks ago or so. Honestly it’s the perfect sized package. Very short, light and shoots well! I’m hopeful that they won’t try to ban the brace but if they do, I might be willing to pay the tax stamp as I got this for a reasonable price to start with. Plus I’ll get to put a real stock on it then!

The arm brace was mentioned by the AG in a press conference about 2 months ago. So they certainly have it in their sights.
But I suggest you keep your pistol, keep all your firearms, and buy more ammo.
At this point and time in history, I think any future federal bans will be met with mass non-compliance. Case in point, the 2013 high capacity mag State ban in CT resulted in about 30% compliance (that may be higher now, don't know). And that's CT. Think how compliance will go in the more conservative states. People are not going to be laying down their weapons, or even gun parts. The general gun owning population are sick and tired of the "slippery slope" tactics used by the anti-gun crowd.

Yes you can replace the barrel as Volquartsen and others have aftermarket barrels available. I don’t know legally for sure how they plays out but as long as you are increasingly length I imagine the ATF would be satisfied.

I spoke with a SW rep at a gun shop and they said the pistol is discontinued. Other shops say it's not at the big distributors as well.
If they made a version with a Pic adapter and no stock it could be less risk for them but SW doesn't strike me as that type.
I want a pistol version but I'm not sure at what cost.

Not legal as per BATF. Once a pistol, always a pistol.
That’s completely incorrect… it’s once a rifle, always a rifle.
If it starts off as a pistol, you can add a longer barrel, then a stock, and you have a rifle. Don’t do it the other way; you’ll have an unregistered SBR.
You cannot make a pistol out of a rifle, since it had the stock on it. Shorter barrel than 16”, even with the stock pulled, equals SBR.
