Is there a thread out there that can provide assistance in changing the rear sights of an M&P? Might sound simple...but I can't find a simple guide.

I've got a new M&Pc 9mm and a M&Pc .45 - both are shooting right of the bullseye. I can make a fist sized hole at 10yrds...but they are holes about 3" to the right of the bullseye.

I'm NOT a gunsmith but if there is a tool out there...I can fix.

Thanks in advance guys!!!

remove them left to right.
install them right to left.
the rear sight has a has a small disk under it along with the spring for the striker block. it also has an allen screw to hold the sight in position. use blue loctite on that screw.

when making adjustments just remember FORS
Front Opposite
Rear Same

BTW, are you left handed? have you had anyone else shoot the gun to verify it's shooting right? have you shot it from a rest?

I am left handed. Most of the time my shot groups are to the right. I just read on another forum that most changes are done with the front sight rather than the rear one.

I will have my wife shoot this weekend - she is a rightie. I'm used to simple adjustments on rifles which fix the POA. New to M&P adjustments....

Thank you again!

let someone else shoot it to see where the holes go. No one is bashing your shooting just seems a little weird you would get two guns that are both off to the right.
cracker

I am right handed and was shooting my 45c a little low and to the left and was fixing to send it back to the factory to get them to take a look at the sights, someone on here suggested I let someone else shoot it first. I took it to my indoor gun range and had a shooting instructor shoot it and he was knocking the small letters out at the top of the target,,,,,,,he asked if it was new because the trigger was a little gritty and he suggested that I take it home and dry fire it to break the trigger in and it should solve my problem.

Lefties shoot to the right often as their grip tightens right when the trigger breaks, it torques the pistol over to the right. Righties torque it to the left. Dry fire while maintaining a good front sight focus and press the trigger as you normally would and you can see if you are squeezing at the last minute. If it is common for you and pistols, then you may need to focus more on your grip rather than adjusting sights.

how do you pull/press the trigger (trigger finger placement)? with the tip of your finger?
try moving your finger in a little more towards the first knuckle.

Thanks for all of the advice. Will take my time this weekend when I go shooting. My old instructor told me I was tightening my grip a bit much when shooting my Pro 9mm...will pay attention to dry and live fires this weekend.

Again- appreciate the advice.

With every new pistol I usually do some dry firing. I have a couple of light walls with patterns in my home. I pick out a spot to aim at which visually makes it easy to see movement of the muzzle of the pistol. With this approach you can try different finger placements on the trigger and see what effect it has POA.
