Gun show prices
I was just wondering what the going rate is for an M&P 4.25 inch 9 mm at a gun show? Obviously depending on where you live or where you go would be different but what is the range that you guys have seen them selling for?

Here's how it works: one attends multiple shows and notices every third table has at least one of "gun I may want to buy someday". These will range between $100 and $135.
Then one day the gun is decided upon as "Gun I'll buy at the next show", whereupon nobody has one except one guy on one table. The grips are aftermarket, no box, no accessories and his asking price is $899.

Yep that's why I don't go to gun shows.

I acually enjoy a good gunshow.
To be serious for a moment and answer your question, the S&W M&P 9mm will likely be around from various dealers. Know what the gun will cost you from your LGS ahead of time and then walk the entire show and note prices on the gun you want. Go back to the ones with the best prices and ask what they could do for you as a cash price, then buy the best deal. If two dealers have the same price, buy from the one who was nicest.

Yeah that's true I was just wondering comparatively speaking what they were going for at the show versus online after you factor in shipping and the FFL transfer fee.
I want to get a new gun and I found a Glock 22 police trade-in with three mags and night sites for $379. I was just curious to see if a new M&P at a gun show price was just a little bit more or a lot more that's all.
I want a full-size gun. I do not have a Glock and I do not have a full size M&P, just the shield. If the Glock 22 is in good shape then I think that $379 price tag is hard to turn down.

Well if its a police trade in it will be about the same price. If its private party used it will be more.
A gun store i frequent deals a lot with police trades. Glocks, M&Ps, Beretta's are all $350-400 depending on # of mags and sight types

What is your take on those police trade-ins? I have read a lot that most of them are fired very little and they have some holster wear, maybe a scratch or two on the grip.

Steak,
If you are or ever were involved with the military as your icon shows, you can buy brand new M&P's at first responder pricing of $399, with a FREE third mag, free shipping and no tax, and then you will be the original owner and have a lifetime warranty.
Why buy a used Glock (which isn't as nice of a gun) instead of a new M&P?

Active duty/Reserves, or retired as I understand it. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Here in Miami, South Florida Gun Shows are really shows. All guns for sale are 10%-20% higher than in regular stores, used firearms at brand new prices, they only sale fabric holsters, reloaded ammo at factory ammo prices, factory ammo prices at sky prices, NC Star lasers and flash light at Streamline prices. The only thing I’ve found in the last 8 shows (2 years) is the Birchwood targets 30% lower than the regular price. Gun Shows in Miami are a joke.

They are here in Denver, too. I haven't been to one in years, for the same reasons you mention. Before I quit going, I would notice the same overpriced junk on someone else's table at a higher price every time I went. Add to that the fact that firearm sales at a gunshow have to go through a background check, and there's really no advantage in buying from a gunshow dealer that you may never see again if you have a problem.

Well I ended up skipping out on getting that Glock 22. I just sort of got apprehensive as the day wore on.
I really want a full size M&P 9 but I want the shield trigger in it. I guess at this point that is just rumor.
Oh well guess I'll see what happens. That was a pretty good deal on the Glock but I just had this feeling that it wasn't the smartest of purchases.

FS M&P .40 was $479.00, after Back ground check and everything it was $521.00 out the door. That was About 5 weeks ago at the Knoxville Gun Show.... 9mm was the same price.

Another source to consider is armslist. I have had good success there.

Always buy what you like. I'd bet the Shield trigger goes into the full M&P line, but even if it does not the M&P is a great gun and I'd rather have one than a Glock (which I do).

I live in houston texas and we have gun shows all the time. I purchased most of my guns there. By far, the best pricing you will get paying cash. They always have a good selection of old and new. My whole family goes and we have a good time. The prices can vary from vendor to vendor. As a comparison, I can always get a gun cheaper there than on websites like Buds. That is saying a lot because Buds prices are good. The reply above about conroe gun show is typical for the Houston area. Great price after 8.25% sales tax.

The Houston area gunshows do have several dealers with good prices. There are also always dealers with ridiculous prices and I can't see how they stay in business.
What I like about gunshows is that they allow you to get your eyes and/or hands on things you don't find at your LGS.
