Just ordered a Shield and trying to decide how I will carry it. Anyone conceal carry their Shield with an ankle holster? How does it fit/feel? Is the Shield too big for ankle carry?

Also, what ankle holster do you recommend for a Shield? I've ordered a Crossbreed for my M&P 40c and was thinking about having them add an ankle holster to my order.

Never tried ankle carry but I will go out on limb and say the Shield isn't meant for ankle carry just like most people would agree that it isn't meant for pocket carry. With that said, they're people who will pocket carry the Shield so I guess it could be ankle carried as well. The problem with Shield for PC or AC is the length of the grip maybe the weight as well. If you want to ankle carry a 9mm, you would probably have to go with something with a smaller grip and a bit lighter like a Kahr CM/PM 9.

Size and weight are subjective. What works for you may or may not work for me. An ankle holster is just one of the modes of carry I use for my PM9 and Glock 26. I plan on investigating this type of carry for my Shield 9 also.

I had a co-worker years ago that carried a 2.5" model 66 in an ankle holster and had no problem with it.

I have carried the .40 Shield in a DeSantis Apache - certainly doable in a pinch in a business suit - but I would never do it daily or in jeans - not enough room up access firearm. Good luck with your search!

I have worn an ankle holster for my Shield for months now and after going through several different holsters I an now using a Forbus brand, which is working out well. Before the Shield I was carrying my Glock 26 Gen. 4 on my ankle. FYI, the Shield is NOT too big for ankle carry Period!

I use a Desantis Die Hard. I tried their Apache ankle holster and did not like it. The Die Hard is leather attached to neoprene with a high quality thumb break. Much better.

The shield with the flush fit mag is great on the ankle. Not too big or heavy at all. I am 5'9" 145lb and its no problem.

I recommend against using ANY auto in an ankle holster. Too much lint and dirt down there and too many bumps for all those controls. A lightweight wheelgun is perfect for the job, however.

I use a Galco ankle holster for my 9c. I see no reason to think that the shield would have any problems.
