California Compliant M&P Shield
Let me apologize in advance for another Shield thread as well as for the limited scope of this thread.
That said, is there anyone out there who has taken delivery (either personally or as a shop owner) of the California Compliant M&P Shield.
I am not asking about Californians who have them from SSE, LEOs or other routes. I am asking about actual California Compliant versions.
S&W customer service claims that they have delivered these "special" versions, but I have yet to hear of anyone who actually has one.
Thanks!

just go to your lgs and talk to them most can order then since only ppl in CA would buy them so not as much demand for them compared to the other model which is available in 48 states since MA has their own also

Unless you like the ugly rooster comb LCI on the top. If my wife decides to get one, she will SSE it. Better hurry on the SSE, as the dems have that in their sights as it were...

There's a huge thread on this over at Calguns.net. I don't think anyone over there has or has seen a CA Shield.

Been monitoring this for last 4 months, I haven't seen anyone get one. A few out of state dealers have them in their catalog(Don't know why). None avail on gun broker and My Three FLL Dealers have long backorders on them and haven't seen any. S&W have dropped the ball and slinging BS to customers and dealers about their shipments. I have also been waiting for magazines for my M&P for 5 months and still nothing. Lame!

M&P Shield in Ca.
Maybe S&W thinks that if they starve us long enough maybe we'll get some legislation passed to bring us back into the freedom of the union? Well we are trying!
I would love to get my hands on the Shield, but like everyone else I've heard nothing and seen nothing about it arriving in Ca. At least S&W could give it's Ca. customers the respect they deserve? And give us a solid date of arrival? I'm so disappointed with this whole mess…it's mind boggling.
So I'll just keep on waiting and wandering if and when we'll ever see this little gun in Ca.

But was it the CA version? The non-CA versions are here for those exempt from the roster or willing to pay a premium for the SSE, but I don't know of anyone that has seen a CA model.

What about the micro-stamping... Are they complying with that?

I assumed as much, i would love to see the process which would allow a serial number to be punched into a casing with any kind of repetition and still be readable on the tip of a firing pin lol
Would have to make the pins out of Unobtainium

Lawsuits are pending to drop a verdict in the next few months over the Cali roster. Guns are starting to drop off now, most obviously Ruger.
We need this win badly over here.
Well, we need them all, but this is particuly insane as it requires technology that does not exist for a new gun to get on the roster.

This is the problem. CA has been on this kick for years and finally got it through the legislature.
The process has been done and found that it can work. They put a unique mark on the firing pin and it stamps the primer as it's fired. The problem that the legislature refuses to admit is two fold. First, no one makes a gun like this.
Second, even though it's been shown to work, it's unreliable. Further, it doesn't matter. Current technology can already match casings to guns and bullets to bores. Why do we need another law like this? The answer is, we don't.
Unfortunately, companies, like Ruger, dropping out of CA altogether hurts our cause dramatically. This is exactly what the anti gun crowd wants. They don't really care about catching criminals. They just want to improve their illusion of control.

Looks like M&P 9C is off the roster... I believe at this point the only M&P on their in 9mm is the full-size.

They will all drop off is the unfortunate reality. How long will Glock keep making the Gen 3?
All companies improve their guns, and any change means they have to re-certify. That's why Ruger have found themselves doing so.
The only way this will be resolved is with court action or... the big companies refusing to sell to LEO agencies the firearms they can not sell to other civilians.
Which of course is a whole different topic. I'm not honestly sure yet where I stand on that idea...

Not saying you didn't see one, but S&W says they haven't started production of these and aren't scheduled to until March of this year.

Its 9mm - Lincoln, CA

Purchased a Shield .40 on 4/16/14 at the Gun Shop in Lancaster, CA. Pick it up in 2 days. They could not get the 9mm and had just one .40 in stock so I bought it.
