I have a M&P 9L Pro Core coming, hopefully tomorrow, and I want to mount a Burris Fastfire III on it. I think the pistol comes with three different mounting plates and I was wondering if anyone knew if this correct. If it is, which one should I use? Sounds like a dumb question, but I want to line everything up so I can go immediately!!! Any experiences or recommendations would be appreciated.
One of the 5 plates that comes with your CORE will fit the Fastfire lll. I'm not sure which one but a quick dry fit on the bottom of the sight will tell. Enjoy your CORE, I'm very happy with mine. I put the JPoint sight on it.
I just got a 40 caliber CORE and love it so far(3 weeks). I opted for the C-More STS red dot partly because of the 20% coupon that came with the gun and mostly because two others at my club have used it for years on their Glocks and have not had any trouble with it.
I have a fastfire III mounted on a rifle, but I got a deltapoint so I could co witness on my pro core. The fastfire III will fit on one of the included mounts, but it's a bit high to cowitness though.
I have installed a FF3 on my M&P 40 CORE with positive results.
The co-witnessing w/ the fixed sights is low but I prefer a 6 o'clock hold off the top of the sights (not the sight dots).
Through the FF3, It fired an acceptable group at 2 o'clock of targets with no adjustments.
I just picked up a CORE today. None of the 5 provided plates fit the base of my Burris FastFire III, so I mounted a Delta Point. There is a problem here. The rear iron sight prevents access to the lock screws at the rear of the Delta Point. That basically means you can't make adustments without removing the sight. Remounting the sight could easily disturb your adjustments. I am going to take it to the range and see what happens. Maybe I will be lucky.
I prefer to not to rely on luck, and there may be a situation where I want to change elevation on the fly. I can't do that with the Leupold sight.
There was a post by Honcho8531 showing a photo of the Burris sight on one of these pistols. Which mounting plate did you use?
Figured it out. Use plate #5. I am guessing that the reason Burris is not mentioned as compatible is because it is not really BUIS compatible. That was previously mentioned. With the Delta Point mounted, the co-witness was awesome! With the Burris mounted, you would need to like a six o'clock hold or the iron sights are useless.
I have a core 9mmL and mounted a burris fastfire II. It will cowitness just a bit over 1/2 the front sight. Its solid and an overall good option if you dont want to spend almost the same on an optic as you did on the Core. I have fired over 250 rounds and it has held POA and functions perfectly. I think the fastfire III is a bit taller in the back so it may reduce the cowitness. I used Plate#5 and the screws for the Docter as illustrated in the CORE manual. I am very happy with the Burris Fastfire and would recomment the FFII for the core if you are on a budget or just dont want to spend 400 bucks on an optic
