I have a shield & I've been searching for a grip plug. I know no one makes it, I also read some where that I could use the one for the glock. My question is would anyone that have a glock & a shield know if this plug would work? thanks in advance.

Don't know about the Glock thing. The only thing I know of to cover the hole is NDZ's long base plates, which you've probably already seen, but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case. I carry my 7 rounder all the time, so no problem with open hole.

I seen it, I just didn't wanted to buy another extender
Why not just leave it open? Any advantage to plugging it? No.
I know there isn't any advantage but me knowing its there, it bothers me.

After considering a numerous options & must of the home made plugs didn't worked out, I decided to go with some rtv that I had in the garage .

I didn't notice this thread earlier... Possibly due to the Subject Line. :)
While I don't see a need for plugs, Black Silicone is what I would have recommended... Until someone comes along with a Pre-Made product.
Well Done.

No... The GLOCK grip plug will not work unless you do a lot of modification to it.

The GLOCK hole is bigger and designed so that you can get your thumb in there for a better grasp on a stuck magazine. OBTW, I've never needed to strip a stuck magazine out of any of my GLOCKs.

There is a rumor that S&W is going to introduce a magazine grip extension for the Shield at Shot Show 2015. You will only have to wait a few days to know if that rumor is true.
