M&P Shield Plus

I had a couple of P365s and I picked up a Shield Plus Carry Comp to test to see if the comp “magic” was any better than it was in the 80s in anything other than 38 super or 9x21 pressures. It isn’t. Most of what I shot was +P duty ammo.

I still prefer the P365XL, and this from NOT a SIG fan. Easier for me to shoot well and easier to conceal.

Nothing about the Smith that I didn’t like and I would be fine with it if I HAD to carry it. I just prefer the SIG in this case.

A shield in any caliber is a fantastic gun. I have the plus carry comp which I love, the shield .40pc 3.1", and shield 45. I carry the 45 and the other two are just range toys, but I would trust any of the three with my life. Try the carry comp with some nato or +p ammo and you will see what the comp is all about. If youre ever around the cleveland area, you can try all three of mine if you like.

I have the regular Shield Plus 3.1” barrel with the manual thumb safety and love it. It’s been 100% reliable with no jams, misfeeds or failures to fire out of a wide variety of JHP’s and the cheapest brass ball ammo on the shelves I can find. I’ve shot about 1000 rounds through it so far.

It’s easy to disassemble/reassemble and clean, but I suppose the same could be said about most new makes and models of compacts, subcompacts and pocket pistols nowadays.

I really like the trigger. I know trigger feel is subjective, but to me the trigger feels better than my Glock 34 and my brother-in-law’s P365, but not quite as good as my 1911.

For its size and weight, I don’t find it snappy at all.

I’ve shot my brother-in-law’s P365 and really liked it, though. It felt good in my hands, and shot well for me. I’d give a slight edge to the Plus trigger, but like I said that’s all subjective. The 365 is a bit smaller, so probably easier to pocket carry and conceal. All in all, I wouldn’t mind carrying one, and would buy one if I could justify spending the money on it.

I have no experience shooting the a Glock 43 or 48, so I can’t really provide a comparison.
