I bought three 8 round, 9mm mags, from Botach. They were delivered today. Problem is they have floorplates like 7 rounders. Where can I buy the collars to cover the gap when inserted into the pistol?

Yeah... Contact Botach. The 8 round mags come from the factory with mag sleeves. Either someone at Botach swiped the mag sleeves, Botach is trying to get extra bucks for the sleeves that should be free, or Botach sent you the wrong mags.

They are indeed 8 rounders and marked so. They stick out of the pistol. I took the collar off my original 8 round mag and it worked perfectly.

I am trying to reach Botach. Their CS seems to be a little difficult to reach.

Smith and Wesson to the rescue! Called their CS line and three collars are on the way. Joe was great to talk to and work with. Cannot say enough good about them. Oh, and NO CHARGE for the three collars.

Good to hear that CS is taking care of it.
I still wonder though, who made off with the originals?

I'm waiting to hear from Botach. They called and left a voicemail and returned an answer via email asking about the problem. I sent them some details and will post when I hear from them. Could be a simple oversight. They may have ordered the mags in bulk from Smith and just not thought to install the spacer collars.

Botach informed me that their 8 round Shield mags come without the spacer collar. Boy am I glad for Smith's CS.

fj,

Glad Smith made you who.e on the mags. As mentioned the vendor you used has a spotty record for delivery of what is ordered. Next time out, among others with good reps are Quantico Tactical and .44mag.com. I've ordered both Shield and M&P .45 magazines from them, good prices and service.

I just sent an email to Quantico Tactical to see if I qualify under their regs for LE purchasing. I'm selling a few C&R military rifles and getting some funds together to buy a new M&P.

I saw a video that cautioned inserting the 8 rounder without the collar. Evidently if that magazine is inserted forcefully it might cause damage.
Disclaimer......only relating what I saw in the video.

I would just return the magazines even if S&W is sending you the collars when they didn't had to, it is not acceptable that the vendor shipped the mags with missing parts.

Good to hear you were able to get the situation resolved. I've not had to use S&W customer service, but glad to hear another example of their excellent service. I purchased some 8 round mags from Brownells when they were on sale. They came with the spacers, and I "assumed" all 8 round mags would arrive this way. Thanks for your alert that some companies don't sell the correct type of mags.

Take care, :-)
