I recently got couple of extra mags for M&P from cheaperthandirt.com. It was a" ProMag S&W M&P9 Magazine 9mm Luger 17 Rounds". I took a private and instructor pointed out several flaws in it.
1. It needs a little extra push, it does not go through smoothly like factory mag.
2. The bullet on top was sticking more than the factory mag.
3. The instructor showed that this may be a 40mm mag that has been bent in the the top to fit 9mm. He mentioned not to use it for self defense but only target practice. I am planning to ditch it in case it damages my gun.

I always stay with factory OEM magazines, regardless of manufacturer. That way if I have an issue, I contact the manufacturer directly. You may pay a little more, but IMO, you get your money's worth.

I have 1 Pro Mag for my M&P 9. It has given me 0 problems. But I have heard of other people having troubles with them.
If your mag is for a 9mm, it will have the numbers 5-17 on the left and 4-16 on the right, just like factory mags. It also should have a 9 on the follower. Hope this helps.

Every pro mag I had was less than ideal. I no longer consider them when searching for new mags

Factory mags can be found for $25 pretty much everywhere across the web. For a cheaper alternative I've read reports the Greg cote act mags run ok, and cost $18

Well no wonder it doesn't feed properly! ;)

I have 2 10 round versions for my FS. Total trash. Got them when no S&W ones were available.

Don't even get me started on the ones for my Mini 14.
