I hate that the sleeve on the Shield 8 round mag always slides around. I've put epoxy on it to hold it in place, but it's a temporary solution because eventually I put pressure on the spot of the sleeve that breaks the seal from the silicone, and I find myself having to redo it. I'd rather just have an entirely different magazine base plate that is a single piece. Does such a thing exist? Or do I have to get one of the magazine extenders that adds more rounds? My issue with the latter option is the cheapest magazine extenders I've seen are like $30 a piece. But if that's my only option, I'm fine with it. Any recommendations? This would be used for concealed carry for my backup 8 round mag. I came across the Hyve +2 magazine base plate for the Shield and almost got that, until I read that people had problems with it and I don't want that for a concealed carry backup mag.

There is no extension that u can use on a 8 rd mag which looks good since even with a +2 extension the sliding part still needs to stay or u will see bare mag metal.

I did buy a +2 EMP mag extension so I have now a 9 rd mag instead of 7 and this looks great since its made to match the pattern on grip. they are about $12. a piece and will work on the 8 rd. mag but don't look very neat on it!

Also read up on the Shield issue with springs and get some Wolff springs!

A small spot of super glue on the mag base will stop any movement. I have over 1000 rounds through mine and never had any problem at all. When I need to clean the magazine a light tap with screw driver at the joint where the superglue is breaks it loose.

Yeah, I saw the Strike Industries EMP mag extension but unfortunately it won't work for what I'm looking for. They're primarily made for the smaller mags (7 round 9mm mags and 6 round .40 mags). Per their website: The EMP+2 will work on the larger capacity factory magazines but with a noticeable gap between the EMP and pistol grip. The factory spacer will not fit flush with the EMP without slight modification.

I'm looking for something for the 8 round mag that I won't have to modify.

With the Strike EMP used on an 8 round mag then it still requires the sleeve, or else you'd be leaving a large gap, which can make it susceptible to magazine over-insertion, which means damaged feed lips or a damaged ejector to the gun. Not something I want to worry about for a concealed carry reload.

Due to the nature of how the base plate attaches, unless a company made a plate which slid on as normal with a cut out in the back and a small filler piece with a set screw kind of like the hyve extensions, I don't thunk a full one pieces design is possible.

Epoxy or Silicone...???

I guess I was lucky. Mine takes a platoon to be able to make it move. With the pinky extension for the seven round mag I now prefer it anyway.

Epoxy or Silicone...???

Did you even read my post? :P I literally said epoxy and silicone are very temporary and don't work well for me.

Yeah the more I think about the more I think you're right. It's just not possible as you explained.

I might give this a try, adds a +1 to the mag and they'll also drill a small hole so that you can attach it to the sleeve and hold the sleeve in place via a provided screw:

I did come across the Plan B but it looks like they aren't making it anymore or are in the stages of producing a new design. Can buy a prototype for $125 though, what a steal.

What springs are you referring to that I apparently should be replacing with Wolff springs?

What's wrong with the stock mag springs? Hell I can barely squeeze the last round in on mine.

Can't see the image. Stop using photobucket. It doesn't work and blocks the image. Use IMGur instead. Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet
Edit: I clicked on the photo bucket image and it does take you to the image, it just blocks it from showing in the forum. All I see is a bent mag spring. No explanation on how or why that happens. Looks like someone bent it with their hands. None of my Shield Mag springs look like that when I remove them from the mag. Can someone explain what the actual issue is?

I've taken apart, cleaned and put back together all of my shield mags, no issues.
