Just purchased a new Shield 2.0 in 40 S&W and bought a Remsport .357 Sig threaded barrel to go with it. I wanted a single stack in .357 Sig and other options (Sig Sauer and H&K) did not appeal to me for various reasons.

I ran 60 rds of 165gr G-D's (40S&W) and 75 rds of Remington 125gr Golden Saber and 25 rds of Fed 125gr HST's (.357 Sig). Everything functioned fine right out of the box.

I've got a lot of experience with both calibers (Glock G33 with both factory barrels). My initial impression was the Shield was easier to shoot well than the G33 (that I have shot a lot). As always, the 40 twist more on recoil than the 357. Follow-up shots have always been easier for me with Sig round regardless of the firearm. Same holds true for the Shield. I'll do a side-by-side, Shield vs. G33 when it cools off a little Tucson.

When my 357 "range ammo" shows up from SG I'll put a lot more rds through the Shield just to make sure it runs well before I EDC it (current EDC is G43).

Random thoughts: I like the trigger (but it is light - OK), I like the
sights - easy to pick-up, the Shield points well, the grip texture was OK but I put some ranger bands on it to bulk the grip a bit. I'm very happy with my purchase. For someone who would like single stack in 357 Sig this is a viable option. Last thing; I got the threaded barrel for a slight gain in length (velocity).

I've been thinking of converting a Shield 40 to 357sig. Thanks for the review.

For my education, why would someone make that conversion?

Any idea of what the velocity was out of the 3.1" barrel? I would take the 357 Sig over the 9mm any day.
I am anxiously awaiting someone to make a conversion barrel for the new 2.0 Compacts. I already purchased a new 40 compact 2.0 in anticipation of a 357 barrel becoming available......

The M&P Compact has been offered from the factory chambered in 357SIG

Why not just buy the Factory barrel for it?

He's looking for a 2.0 Compact in .357Sig. Different barrel/animal than a 1.0 Compact.

Fatboy - Good review and good info - 'specially with pitchers. I only have a coupla .357 Sig's but I like the round. I also really like handguns that are capable of firing more than one round. I have the dies but haven't ever tackled loading it, I may have to give it a whirl ...

I know that the full size barrels are interchangeable between original and 2.0.

Are you sure that the compact barrels are not?

I never bothered to look at a compact since I have owned one for years

Well, the 1.0 Compact barrel is 3.5", shorter than either the 3.6" 2.0 Compact or the 4.0" 2.0 Compact. There's that to start.
