Holsters for M&P9 2.0 4.25": Safariland 7378 7TS, Alien Gear Cloak Mod or R&R Kydex?

I'm looking for an OWB holster for a new, incoming M&P9 2.0 4.25".

Having the option to wear the holster with the paddle or a belt is preferred, but not required.

Also, the primary purpose of the pistol will be home protection, with occasional CC needs when we're out and about, hiking and exploring the local area.

I like these three (3) holsters, priced highest to lowest:

Safariland 7378 7TS
Alien Gear Cloak Mod
R&R Kydex

I'd like your input on my choices, and for those with similar needs, feel free to chime in with the holster that you use.

Thanks, guys.

My duty rig for my M&P9 2.0 FS is a Safariland 7TS (low ride). Off duty, I carry the 4" M&P9 2.0 Compact in a Bravo Concealment kydex holster OR a Gen 1 M&P9 Shield in a hybrid kydex/leather IWB holster.

While Alien Gear gets crapped on a lot on the internet, I carried my Gen 4 Glock 20 10mm in an Alien Gear Cloak Tuck while on vacation in Wyoming and Idaho last year. Did a fair amount of novice level hiking and other things and the holster performed well. Held the gun securely, no shifting around, no equipment/parts failures. I would just recommend getting a decent magazine carrier from somebody (anybody) else.

I just checked out your holster and it appears to only be available for a right-hander. ☹

Check Safariland site with there holster finder. AFAIK pretty much 100% of there holsters can be ordered in left hand variants. I'd recommend the 7378 over the gls, but any of the Safariland options are good imo. Do not like Alien gear or fobus.

I'm now liking the Safariland 6378 ALS and now hoping to find one in stock.

Thanks for the "heads up"!

Just ordered the Safariland 6379 ALS (with clip-on belt attachment). I really like the retention and locking system on this holster, and I want to be able to attach/remove the holster with having to undo my belt.

Thanks for the input, guys.

The 6378 is, imo, the best active retention holster on the market.

I like that setup too. But the site selection doesn't give an option for my M&P 2.0 9mm compact "w/thumb safety". Bummer.

Wondering which would be easier to modify to fit, either the holster to fit the compact without safety or the holster to fit the standard length M&P 2.0.

Or even the M&P version 1.0 compact 9mm w/safety that they have a holster for.

If I'm not mistaken, the M&P9 Compact M2.0 is the same size as its predecessor, the M&P9 Compact. I'm sure someone will chime in to confirm.

Also, I think I saw a video stating that very thing. If I can find it, I'll post here.

I'm going by the dropdown selection on the website, says the 1.0 compact is a 3.5" barrel compared the 2.0 compact being a 4".

Okay, what I'm hearing on YouTube is that holsters which fit the M&P9 2.0 will also fit the M&P9C 2.0. Apparently, the extra quarter-inch on the full-size holster is a non-issue for the compact.

Float this theory on this forum (and others) and see if anyone can corroborate.
