I am looking for information on the recent handgun I purchased as well as the history of when this firearm was made, any identifiable historical information is much appreciated. Reference the following;

Gun Model: M&P Shield M2.0 4” Performance Center 9MM
Serial #JFV8574

Any information is greatly appreciated. :)

First of all welcome to the forum. Lots of good people and information here. As to your specific question(s) the 2.0 version is the most recent. Did you buy it new or used? That doesn't really make much difference as the firearm is probably 0-3 years old - maybe older). You might want to call S&W customer service for specific date. And you may check the website for other information as well. That said I am sure a few will chime in with more information.

Unfortunately M&P doesn't have any date/year marks on the firearm, nothing on the shipping box.
As robrossk posted, I'd also suggest to call S&W, based on SN they will tell you year of manufacturing.
If you bought it NEW, my guess is - 2020. With today's demand you won't buy "old" new firearm ;)

Also extra suggestion - don't post SN of firearms. Nothing against forum Members, but this information is accessible for ANYBODY !

And, armed with this information, they might...?

Unless S&W made a change, the date code IS on the box sticker. Model, SKU, Serial and Date.

Here's a pic I grabbed off the web. The red rectangle is the date. Dec 18, 2015 in this case. Click on the thumbnail to get the fullsize pic.

Thank you for the info. I'm wondering why nobody was able to point this earlier. Looks I was asking wrong people (not at this forum) :D

A few years ago the date code was only 4 digits. It was based on a Julian date so Jan 1 is 1 (first day of year), Feb 1 is 32, June 1 is 152 and so on.
