Anyone installed one of these yet? Looks like a simple way to go to optics without having to mill the slide. Looking for some actual experience reports.

Leupold DeltaPoint Micro

This covered it when new. Perhaps some new experiences or thoughts have come up.

I see no advantage over iron sights. I have reflex red dots on pistols and carbines. This micro unit unit goes in a different direction, poorly. It’s not cheap.

Thank you for the link. However, most of the comments were presented by people who had heard this or read this not actually owned or shot with the sight. "Professional" reviewers usually have an agenda. That's why I'm asking forum members who have actually been there and done that.

Per the factory instructions, You remove the rear sight and replace it with a flush mounted piece that has two screw holes that are used to mount the sight. So removing the two screws would remove the sight and allow rear cover removal for detailed slide cleaning. Retorquing the sight should keep an approximate zero

Yeah... and that's something I don't like.

1. mounting is super easy, so unmounting will be as well. Are the screws and plate threads strong enough to survive frequent reassembly?
2. Keep an approximate zero... means my iron sights are going to be more accurate.

It's not a bad idea, but different design or perhaps battery position or size would make the optic more attractive for shooters?

I'm sceptical because I'm not convinced to any optic on handgun at this time. If I would go with any, Holosun ACSS is my choice.

I have a Performance Center M&P with the Crimson Trace RSR. I have a Wilson EDC X9 with a Leupold DeltaPro. I also have 64.5 year old eyes and that's the reason I'm training myself to red dots. I'm studying the Micro as a means to place optics on my 2.0 Compact without the need to either send the slide away for milling (and possibly voiding the lifetime warranty) or trading to get optics ready gun. I"m not inquiring if should I go RSR but my inquiry is to anyone with actual behind the trigger experience with this model.

It looks way too small and would be not much different than lining up iron sights. Maybe a dove tali moutn to mount a delta proint pro but this is too small it seems

Four days past the initial post, out of many thousands of board members, apparently no one has trigger time with a Delta Point Micro. That may actually be the answer.

Tell you my experience in a week or two

I've got 71-year-old eyes and have trained myself to use red dot sights over the past year. I like them, so I thought, like you, that the Delta Point Micro might just be the trick to use for my M&P 40 (original version). I really love this handgun, and have both a .357 Sig barrel, and an Apex Tactical 9mm conversion barrel for it. I do not want to send it out to be milled, so thought the Delta Point Micro might be the answer. I've ordered one and it will arrive next week. I'll mount it, take it to the range and let you know what I find out.

Like KertP, I have a 4" M&P 2.0 Compact 40 cal with the drop in .357 SIG and 9mm barrels. I considered the DeltaPoint Micro, but opted instead for a Holosun SH507KX2FA that I will mount using an Outerimpact mounting plate. I've had good luck with previous Outerimpact mounts on a Glock G21SF (.45 cal) and an M&P PC in 9mm (both mounts stayed snug and didn't lose zero). Just received the Holosun yesterday (Amazon - no shipping costs), so I'll be mounting it within the next week or so and then going to the range.

Only issue I might encounter with the Holosun is a fitment problem with my holsters, a problem that the DeltaPoint Micro avoids.

Had one. The dovetail wedge did not fit the slide dovetail well and you could see daylight between the wedge and bottom of the dovetail. The aperture is very small and the dot can be hard to pick up because of it. I sold mine at a loss. They don't seem to be very popular.

I have it on my M&P 2.0 5" FDE and love it. Very easy to install and use. I can stack shots on top of each other up to 15 yards. The good thing is if the red dot goes out, you can use the site as a ghost ring sight. Best money I have spent.

Received my Deltapoint Micro on Sunday. Installed it and started practicing dryfire exercises to see how the Micro worked compared to standard sights. I found that my normal presentation worked fine. I did not have any of the issues that some of the YouTube folks apparently had.

Went to the range today and fired 100 rounds of 40 S&W through my M&P. The DeltaPoint Micro works like a champ! It is actually the most intuitive of red dot sights that I have. I even had a friend of mine shoot a magazine of rounds and he found it equally easy and intuitive to use. My friend just bought his first red dot for one of his .22 handguns he uses around their farm for vermin control.

I had previously purchased an Outer Impact adapter that replaces the rear sight, and had mounted a Trijicon RMR. That arrangement was much too high for my liking, so hence, my interest in, and purchase of the DeltaPoint Micro. I am extremely happy with the DeltaPoint Micro. It is worth the price.

It is unfortunate that Leupold only makes them for the two firearm brands. I would like to have several more for other handguns. My eyesight is not getting any younger!

That loose fit of the slide dovetail is intentional. Leupold has you torque the DeltaPoint Micro to 25 inch-pounds. That definitely holds the DeltaPoint Micro in place. It also makes it easy to make sure you get the DeltaPoint Micro centered before you torque the mounting screws down.

I have one on my shield and love it. Old eyes make it hard to find the front sight, no longer have that problem and i didnt have to buy a new gun, slide or have the slide milled.

I bought one for my glock 31 which is a full size 357 Sig cartridge and in the beginning it was fun but quickly realized your presentation has to be absolutely perfect or else you can be fishing for the Red Dot also while shooting if the Red Dot for any reason jumps out of the picture it could end up causing you to fish for the Red Dot for distance shooting it's great for slow fire practice but for combat distances I prefer at least from 0 to 30 ft iron sights for range toy I think this is a fine Red Dot sight but not for self-defense I regret buying it however it's the only choice I have for my glock 31 as the night sites I bought for it aren't the right height so a lot of my shots are going about 2 in up and since the rear sight is not adjustable not good

Period. Comma, comma, period. Comma, comma, period. (et cetera...?)

Cheers!

P.S. The GLOCK Perfection (OEM) Factory adjustable rear sight SP05977 (for both windage & elevation) is $23.12 on amazon...
