egads! multiple SW SKU's -

11806 - ? Plain
11807 - Mass compliant
xxxxx - CA compliant....

I'm in PA, no chance ever I will move to Mass or CA.
but what in the heck is all the differences about?

looking for a 9mm conceal (I'm licensed in PA...) with a thumb safety, carried mag+one in the chamber, personal defense.

I have a Walther PPK/s double/single action, with safety.
works for me. if I have to draw a weapon, little doubt the threat is going to be ahem.... "neutralized" - and range shooting DA/SA shows I can handle that.

I see the 1108x 'version' listed as 'double action only' - no hammer . . so a striker fired double action? every shot/round is double action?

the PPK/s is double/single action with a thumb safety - I like. . . not much chance of a 'too excited' discharge as the initial double action is quite distinct. but at the point I draw a weapon, there will be multiple round fired at center mass.

what in the marketing hoo-haa blazes am I missing?
sorry - but SW is not especially helpful in this regard....

per initials 'gun safety' instruction - when you feel it necessary to draw a deadly weapon, you have already made the decision to shoot the threat.

the 11806 version appears to be the basic point&fire weapon.
I am not Dirty Harry - I will not be engaging targets tens of meters away . . .

clarifications/explanations appreciated.

I believe that Massachusetts law requires that handguns must have a visible loaded chamber indicator, and a 10 pound or heavier trigger pull on guns that come without a manual safety. There may also be a magazine capacity requirement that is lower than the standard capacity that a particular pistol ships with elsewhere.

Basically, what it sounds like you are looking for is a standard configuration gun with a manual safety which should be the easiest to find online. I’d just go to any of the larger online vendors, read the descriptions carefully, and select the one that fits what you are looking to purchase. They’ll ship it right to your FFL where you can complete the background check and take possession of the gun.

The CA version has the large Chamber Load Indicator with the big red flag and a magazine safety (no mag = deactivated trigger).

As for DAO, S&W has been doing that for a while now. Seems like the SKUs where they state that are marketed to law enforcement, military and markets where local laws/regs impose other restrictions. There has certainly been LOT'S of discussion around this.

thanks for the info - I figured the state varieties have something specific to a law - just was not sure if that's a benefit thing or a numbnut state "feature"

Certainly there is no benefit to laws which require the design of a firearm to be altered from its intended form. I would imagine that companies like Smith & Wesson hire some pretty smart people to come up with their designs. When politicians become involved in laying out the specs for things like trigger pull weight, add on components and such, my faith in the product to work as intended begins to go down.

You don’t want either the MA or CA version unless you, unfortunately, live in that state.
