Just shot my competitor this afternoon. My gun does not seem to exhibit the end shake that is noticed on others. I am looking for red dot sight recommendations. I do have a M2.0 that I intend to leave stock. (Have always been a Trijicon believer and or Leupold brand person but willing to consider others.) Any suggestions? Would also be interested in the "why". Any suggestions are appreciated.

I've used a Burris Fast Fire III to shoot in local matches for several years mounted on a M&P Performance Center 40 L. The Burris has given excellent service. The reason I originally went with the Burris is that I did not want to pay as much for the optic as I paid for the pistol. I guess that means I'm cheap. Anyway, as I stated above, the Burris has given excellent service. I've also heard good things about the Vortex Viper. Hope this helps.

Vortex for their warranty. Will be a Doctor/Burris footprint. Primary Arms has a couple new ones: if you are not concerned about certain features ( aka, shake awake, etc.) their $149 Classic Micro (you actually must turn it on to use it) works very well. Good glass, good dot, good holding zero & a good warranty as well.

You can always buy a more expen$ive (as in 2-3X times) feature-filled sight later...

Much of the decision as to what dot comes down to the individual and the use.

The use will help dictate the specs of the unit and the individual will be much of what determines the specifics of the percieved reticle.

If you’re looking to shoot competition or just range stuff and you have the funds I’d look towards the Trijicon SRO, the ROMEO MAX3 (I think it’s called) or the new Holosun huge window optic... that’s my term but they should call it the HHWO and pay me royalties. If you can find people to try those and different dot sizes that would be ideal but most of us don’t have that luxury.

There are other optics out there with similar “big” windows, but I don’t have experience, or I don’t like them.

As for the reticle, it’s going to depend on your vision and what you want your vision to do. I know national champion GM USPSA shooters that use small dots. I know others of the same caliber who prefer big dots. They are your eyes, not anyone else’s, so try if possible before you buy.

Now with all that small print out of the way, I’ll give you my opinion for me and my very messed up eyes. This opinion isn’t even worth what you’ve paid...

I’d get a Trijicon SRO 1.0MOA because that’s the best performance (not having to worry about duty or concealment or environmental factors) optic I’ve used.

I've always liked the Leupold DPP. Have a few and like the features. The sight turns off with inactivity so saves battery for range and storage. While that would not suit carry it's perfect for a home defense gun. But can be turned on and off manually. Very clear glass and dot.

I have a DPP on my CORE and like the larger window for quick acquisition of the RD. I'm trying a Trijicon SRO on the Competitor, also because of the large window, and this one has a 5MOA RD, which I like given older eyes and ease of pickup on the target.

Appreciate everyone's input. Leaning towards the SRO but hope to check a few different options soon at the local gun shop.

I like the FastFire 4. Have used Holosun and Vortex, prefer the FF4.

I am evaluating the Holosun SCSMP right now. So far I like it, especially for a non-duty optic. The plus is it's a direct mount to the CORE slide, no adapter plate. The green reticle is growing on me. The window is not as large as a SRO, but still very useable. It has the option of dot/circle dot/ or just circle. What I don't like is the auto adjust, but that is more for a self defense/duty use.

Guns and Ammo had a article back in 2021 on the Leupold DeltaPoint Micro that is worth investigating. They claim the low-profile, concealable design makes it fast on target, extremely accurate, and it's built tough. Many reviews support this assertion.

The DeltaPoint Micro is mounted at the same height as factory iron sights, that aligns the red dot with the front sight, making target acquisition fast and intuitive and improving your accuracy, all while maintaining a compact profile.

I am a BIG fan of Holosun products. I have then an all 4 of my comp guns (2 LTT Berettas, a Kimber full size, and an Equalizer. 407L on the Kimber and Smitty, and 507's on the Berettas. Never had a failure, and I really appreciate the side mounted battery tray.

Will install a Holosun (HE507C-GR X2) on my Competitor when it arrives.

RMR II and Holosun 507k and 507C are tired and true.

A reflex sight, like the Holosun 507c x2 works great for me. The circle+dot is quicker to aim and my astigmatism is a non issue.

I also have one 407c that works fine but isn't worth the cost savings. They're discontinued now.

I use Trijicon for the EDC stuff, and with 2 exceptions which are Sig optics on Sig pistols, I have Vortex Venom and Vipers on everything else.

I will admit to being a bit of a Trijicon FanBoy, they are kind of expensive, but the things are reliable.

For the Vortex optics, not sure how many thousand of rounds I have shot with them by now, but can say I have never had a problem.

+1 on Holosun products. Extremely dependable, lots of features, easy to see reticles, reasonably priced.

If your shooting skills are for defense or uspsa type shooting you should be useing a target focused style now with a flash of your sigths at longer yardages and can draw and raise your handgun to eye level on center of mass and NOT have the hunt for the sight alinement . If this is true pick and optic with a 6" dot , maybe 3" but remember a 6moa dot only shows about 1.5" of coverage at 25 yards . If used for hd defeense or carry needs buy a dot that you can see better in variable light conditions and with a lens tint that works in low light , Not all work well for this like our old RM02 . Open sigthts were better before needing a hand held or gun light light inside a house in near dusky dark conditions .

Try to test your self self to see what color dot you see best . You might find green works work better than red and if you deal with astigmatism it may work better too . Some dot models have auto adjust for britness of the dots and that can be a wanted option .

If someone is red green color blind there also a yellow dot by holosun at least and the tijicon dual illumination is NOT a good all around choice !

When I was shooting uspsa the last time I used a RM02 dot on a n upgraded M&P core. But I knew that optics short comings and when it was moved to a HD or fun use handgun a holosun green circle dot replaced the RMR .

I started hunting with a dot optic on revolver in '90 using a 2 moa red Ultra Dot in revolver . It still serves me will today but as a offensive dot optic . I can turn the intensity down on to shoot very well with still but its a better bullseye type dot optic .

With the Circle Dot options red or green the holosun 32moa circle works well for typical defensive distance but still only covers a 8" circle at 25 yards so depending on your skills ringing a 6" steels might be easy and fun to do with it . The 2moa dot with or with out the circle works very well if shooting at or beyond 25 yards even at 50 yards .

So we have 3 holosun green circle dots today as my wife also has 25 years shooting dot optics on 22lr pistols and th m&p core and also likes green over red and I have the same dot optic on a m&p 4"compact pistol I practice and play with to stay sharp with it . I may carry it one day but even wearing trifocals that time is not here yet .

Good luck with your choice. many good dots toay for match and target shooting , A few less for CC duty .

Delta Point Micro is a great sight but, not for one that is already for a mounted dot. They were made for M&Ps and Glocks that don't already have a slide mount. You knock out the rear sight and the Micro replaces the rear sight. Don't get me wrong, it is fantastic but, if you have the ability to mount a red dot on a precut slide then I would do that.

I also have the Vortex Venom. I really like it but, it has been going through batteries. I have made sure that the power is on the lowest setting. I will see how long it will last. Other than that, I really like it.

RMR or Holosun for me. Very happy with them. I have 2 RMRII's, Holusun 507K, 2 SCS's and all have been solid. One of the RMRII's is on a Benelli M4 and no issues after over 1k 12ga down the tube.
