Bodyguard .380 Plus to compete with Ruger LCP Max??
After the success of the M&P Shield Plus, I'm wondering if S&W will ever produce a high capacity version of the Bodyguard .380 to compete with the Ruger LCP Max. I love my shield plus for concealed carry, and my wife loves the ruger, but only selected it because the S&W Bodyguard only holds 6 rounds.

I would like to see one as well. The Ruger LCP Max was not a bad pistol. I picked one up because of the capacity; and gave up my Bodyguard. IMHO, the Bodyguard had superior ergonomics. I just dumped my LCP Max in favor of a Glock 42 because of ergonomics. I’ve decided that in a pocket pistol, capacity was not as much of an issue.
I hope that if S&W does produce a Bodyguard Max, that they will improve the takedown system. I had issues getting mine together and had it actually fly apart on me.

You are the first person I've seen that likes the Bodyguard ergonomics. Everybody I know with average to large hands finds them impossible because of the trigger pull length. With my slim hands with long fingers, I found I had to readjust my grip halfway through the pull to get to the break.

I'm astounded that no manufacturer has produced a high capacity pocketable 380 to compete with the Ruger LCP Max.

If Sig would just downsize their 365 frame by a tad...

The solution for my XL hands was the addition of a DeSantis Pocket Shot holster for my Bodyguard which gave me much more grip purchase. Might be a solution for my fellow forum members with large hands. I have no affiliation with the manufacturer but found this worked well for me. Only you can decide if it will work for you.

If Sig would just restart the P238 line, I'd trade my LCP Max.

The Sig website shows one P238 model. I suppose all those special/custom variations have gone away. 403 Forbidden
I noticed that Springfield discontinued the 911 model, which was a P238 in all but name. IIRC the mags are interchangeable.
Where both guns went wrong was with pricing. They were way more money than most were prepared for a 380. The Sig P290RS was better priced but too many people whined about the true DAO trigger with its long reset.

The Sig p365 380 and the p238 are almost identical in size and weight. Using Handgun Hero I was quite surprised to see that. Obviously a capacity advantage for the 365. After moving on from my P.O.S. Ruger Max I’m quite happy with the 365 version.
I would have happily tried out an upgraded S&W. I’m very surprised with all the other oddball stuff they’ve released this wasn’t on their radar.

Jusr picked up a 365 .380 yesterday. Was surprised how much lighter it felt then my 365 when comparing them both loaded. Waiting for a batch of splatter targets to arrive so I can run a couple of hundred rounds through it at my private range (dirt road in the woods to a small clearing with a hill for a backstop).
Since it pocket carries fine in a Nemesis, will likely pass on an optic and depending on how the factory sights work, end up installing a set of Truglo TFX Pro sights.

I'd rather see S&W make a Shield Plus in .380 to compete with the P365-380 and the Ruger Security .380.

I, for one, hope they don't make a Bodyguard .380 Plus. It will only cost me money.
My first Bodyguard was to see if it was better than the Ruger. The two guns were very different (very long vs very short trigger pull). But, every time I took them to the range, I could never decide which one I liked better.
Now, I'm testing the Ruger LCP Max. If a new Bodyguard Max comes out, I'll just have to say "I gots to know".

HAHA! Yes.. Like I said in the OP, the Ruger LCP Max isn't my jam.. but my wife has tiny hands and I know that I'll have to buy one if S&W releases a Bodyguard Plus.

The guncabinet did a marketing survey recently regarding the appeal of "BG2" as a name for a new small yet high-capacity microcompact pistol, which tells me it's on the way sometime this year.

My Glock 42 suits me just fine. It's totally dependable and the slightly longer barrel gets more out the 380 round that is a bit borderline in performance. There are a couple of companies that make +P versions of 380 and the 42 can handle it. I like that I can change the sights myself and basically fix or replace any part of the Glock.

I narrowed down my pocket carry to the S&W .380 Bodyguard or the Ruger LCP Max. The Ruger won hands down.
I found the Bodyguard uncomfortable to shoot. In contrast, the LCP Max recoil distributes nicely around my hand and doesn't all end up in the web of my thumb and index fingers. That's a real plus for me. The fact that it holds 10+1 is an added benefit, but not a "must-have."
