What is the real world difference between the m&p 2.0 and the core pro series

I have a CORE pro series 5". The slide is pre-cut for a red dot optic, which pushed the rear sight cut back and made it more narrow. The sights are higher to allow for co-witnessing. The one thing I don't like is the more aggressive texturing of the grips. After 15-20 rounds, it feels like I've been rubbing my right hand thumb/index webspace with 100 grit sand paper. It is the most accurate of my 5 9mm pistols. I have not put an optic on it yet.

The less textured grip inserts from the "standard" M&P 1.0 full size will work just fine...

Which one do you use?

Cheers!

^^^ didn’t know they’d fit. It’s been the biggest reason for not getting a 2.0. My hands are rough already. The new texture really does feel like sandpaper as others have stated. Hmm…….

It'll work, with a minor caveat.

The removeable grips have a hole in them for the grip retaining pin. This hole in the 1.0 grip is slightly smaller than the hole in the 2.0 grip. Putting the 2.0 retaining pin through the hole in the 1.0 grip will require a bit more effort.

I've seen photos of someone who lightly sanded the grip texture just enough to take off the points. He reported a good result.

No one has mentioned the reworked trigger. I had thought I would be replacing it but not long in I decided there was no need.

The current production CORE models are also 2.0. If we're talking 2.0 to 2.0 CORE, the CORE, besides the optics ready slide, has an adjustable overtravel stop. COREs are also available with ported barrels (Performance Center).

Note that some "regular" M&P 2.0 SKUs also have optics ready slides.

AFAIK, none of the CORE models have manual safeties except the .45.
