Will the M&P 2.0 slide work on a M&P 1.0 ?
CDNN has FDE 5" slides (stripped) available for 60.00, I was curious if I could put one on an M&P 1.0. I have a 5" 9mm barrel and most of the internal parts for a M&P 1.0 gun.

The slide stop/ cutout on the slide for the slide stop have some significant differences between the two generations. I would doubt that they will work together.

The cut on the 1.0 is kind of a long rectangle, and the slide stop designed to interact with it. On the 2.0 it is more of a wedge.

Yes, it will.

I’m building up a 4” 2.0 PC slide for my CA compliant 1.0 and it works just fine.

9mm Shield, btw.

Shield 1.0s and 2.0s use the same slide lock cut so swapping works.

Full, Compact and Subcompact do not swap easily from 1.0 to 2.0. You can put a 1.0 slide on a 2.0 if you modify a 1.0 slide lock lever. It doesn't work the other way around. I'm sure someone could figure it out, but it's not drop-in.

The full size 2.0 works fine on a 1.0 frame... But the slide lock doesn't engage. The solution is to mill the 2.0 slide's notch (cut?) larger (longer, really) to the same dimension as the 1.0.

Putting the two slides side by side makes it easy to understand.

Works fine as is, just won't stay locked back manually or on the last round, but not a serious issue (at the range, for example)... A bit tricky to disassemble the 1st time, but pretty easy after the first few.

Cheers!

By any slight chance does the 2.0 slide stop fit (maybe with a little help) in the 1.0?

Hmmm. Hard to say. The 2.0 uses a detent (plunger) to hold it in place so the frame is made to accommodate the "extra" parts. Not sure if the 2.0 slide lock lever (minus the plunger parts) would fit properly in a 1.0 frame without some kind of modification.

A quick search of the web showed a bunch of discussion about it, but no success regarding the slide lock.

In case anyone wondered, there are online vids of folks that put 1.0 slides on 2.0 frames. This was popular before S&W released optics ready 2.0 models when the only thing readily available were the 1.0 CORE slide kits or bare slides.
