S&W didn’t make these for long it seems before discontinuing the line. The SKU is 12104 for no thumb safety and 12105 with thumb safety. They called it a subcompact but I’d consider it more a compact size. I think it’s a shame they were discontinued because it’s a great size similar to the M&P 9mm 2.0 compact which holds 15rds in direct competition with the G19. I see quite a few 1.0 models out there in 45 acp with the 4 inch barrel and 8rd flush fit mags, but not many of the 2.0 models. The only 2.0 models I’m aware of have a full length grip and have 10rd mags as standard size. I consider those more bulky with the longer grip. I finally located a 2.0 subcompact. It’s a nice shooter in the goldilocks size. Any other 2.0 subcompact 45 m&p owners out there?

Nice, but thanks for providing me with a new obsession:cool::D

I've had m&p 40sw pistols since they came out but no 45 interest in a sub with the pinky extention or 2.0 compact version . As it turns out the m&p sub compact or compact when compared to the under side of the trigger guard to the top of the slide is far taller than a 1911 giving you a shorter grip for size with an overall height, length, width at the grip and weight thats very close 4" or 4.25" alloy framed 1911 Both the sub and commander can hold 8 rounds in a mag and a 10 round back up although the m&p 45 can run a 13 round mag with a x grip spacer .

For me I started shooting 1911's back in '76 and have carried a LW Commander series 70 for most of 37 years . So maybe I a bit jaded ! Ha .

best I could do on handgun Hero for a alloy frame 1911 is a ronin emp 4" but check out the site or take your m&p to the favorite gun shop and compare if it matters .

Great find. I lusted after one of those when they were announced and had I ever run across one would have bought it.

Eventually I ended up with Shield .45's in the standard 3.3" and PC 4" versions and have been very happy with them. While 8+1 capacity would have been nice having either 6+1 or 7+1 in a slimmer gun does just fine for me.

Enjoy your new gun.

Thanks. I’ve thought about the 4” PC 45 Shield offering. I like the broader grip of the larger brother and compact height of the grip… just enough for full finger grip.

Your original post - about the model 12104 and 12105 - made me look. I have an M&P Compact 2.0 4" 45acp model 120121 - not the same but still not a full-sized M&P. I also have its first cousin, an M&P Compact 2.0 4" 10mm. Bought both of them in 2023, and have shot them some. They're both fun. While the M&P 45acp is a "different experience" from my 1911 4" Springer, it is fun nevertheless.

Dimensionally the two M&P Compacts are virtual twins, and a single holster accommodates each of them.

UPDATE: Unable to find a model 120121 (which is the model number shown on the box) on S&W's website or anywhere else, I re-examined that box. Sure enough the box says that I have a model 120121 and a sku of 12105. So...I have one of your elusive model 12105 M&P2.0 4" 45acps. Ta da.

For further consideration, I also have the 4" M&P Compact 2.0 9mm and 40cal versions, and a 40-to-.357Sig conversion barrel.

In total I have four 4" M&P Compact 2.0 pistols: one each in 9mm, 40cal, 45acp and 10mm, plus a 40-to-.357Sig conversion barrel. Got all of my favorite calibers covered.

How about photos of the 120121 model to see how it differs from the 12104/12105 ?

Here's the box that the pistol came in. The box shows that the pistol's SKU is 12105. The number above the word "model" in the center of the box is 120121 - I interpreted that as being the model number.

I seem to recall somebody on here desperately searching for one of these pistols. Seems like they were a short lived experiment at S&W.

Yes when I was first trying to find other posts to learn more about the production/info on these 4” 2.0 subcompacts I ran across the post. It seemed like the guy bought a bunch of mags but then never followed up if he actually got one or not. I originally replied to that thread and then started my own.

I bought one online back in November from Gallery of Guns. Mine is the 12105 with the thumb safety. I really like it! The full handed grip and especially that it holds 10 rounds. I had a Simply Rugged holster from a previous M&P that fit this one. But had difficulty locating an IWB kydex holster for it. Finally found one at We The People holsters online. It’s on its way to me now.
