Gap behind Bodyguard 2.0 barrel? Normal?

So I have one of the new S&W Bodyguard 2.0 pistols and I love it, shoots great. However there is a noticeable gap between the face of the side and the side of the barrel on the right side (ejection side; right in front of the extractor). When loaded you can easily see part of the loaded cartridge case/rim. The top of the barrel is flush against the slide face, the muzzle crown is where it should be relative to the end of the slide... everything looks and acts like it's in battery perfectly fine. I've read that this gap is common on some pistols and allows the room for the extractor hook to do it's thing. I see the same kind of gap but smaller on my Shield Plus, and to a much smaller extent I can just catch a glimpse of brass on my Shadow Systems pistol.

Is this normal? Can someone else with a BG 2.0 check and see if they have the same or not? Just a tad visually disconcerting..

The case head is solid at the extractor groove, but it does look odd. And, the .380 pressures are mild.

ETA: between this and another thread on the Bodyguard, I get the impression that not a lot of thought went into the design criteria. Or, maybe, there were some sacrifices en route to the final product. I think Jeff Cooper referred to this class of product as something you tote when you don't want to carry a gun.

a BG 2.0 owner on another forum said that his looks the exact same. just part of the design apparently.
