Bodyguard 2.0 .380 Safety
Got a new Bodyguard 2.0 yesterday. Very accurate. Unbelievably small. Like it a lot.
I got the version with the thumb safety.
Safety is virtually useless. It is so tiny and hard to engage and disengage that I will be carrying it with the safety off.
Has anyone else reading this gotten the thumb safety model and had the same problems?

I looked at several with the safety yesterday (I have the NS). All were very tough to operate, especially left handed. I’m perfectly happy with the NS version.

I bought the thumb safety version only because it was the only one they had in stock. Since I don't intend to use it I was pleased to see just how tiny it was, but that's just me.

Some states require a thumb safety to sell them there. They may be just for that, but small enough to stay out of the way.

I made my peace with that kind of thumb safety on the original Shield.
Since the slide can be operated with the thumb safety engaged, all administrative handing (loading, unloading, etc.) outside the holster was done with the safety engaged. After the gun was holstered, the safety was disengaged and the gun was ready for instant use. The safety was engaged again before removing the gun from the holster for any routine handling.

I handled both at a LGS. I could barely operate the thumb safety it was so stiff. The sales guy behind the counter couldn't operate it with one hand either. Typically things like that will loosen up, but that was ridiculous. I bought the non thumb safety one and am fine with it. As an aside, the thumb safety model had a noticeable hitch in the trigger after take up so that made my decision an easy one.

Same here
I bought one with a safety about a week ago and found the same issue. I've been operating the safety several times a day since I bought it to see if it loosens up but it hasn't.
I read somewhere that someone built up the safety tab with some JB Weld epoxy forming an extension and they claimed it improved the function. I just don't want to experiment with something like that.

I bought one with the safety because that was all I could find at that time, not because I wanted one with the thumb safety. Regardless, mine is very difficult engage but not at all difficult to disengage.

Really?
What states would be?

Yeah, I'm looking at buying the pistol but trying to decide if to buy one with the manual safety or not. Tried one today at local gun store that had the safety and I couldn't move either way. I don't have much strength in my hands anyway and i'm temped to buy the one without the safety. Of course I guess I could buy with the safety and keep it on and keep the safety off. I hate to think of having to use it in a violatle situation and couldn't get the safety off.

I have the BG 2.0 with a safety. After awhile, it smooths up nicely.

Safety
I use the safety only for administrative handling, as pointed out by a PP. When the gun goes in the lockbox, or on the shelf above my bunk, at camp, I use the safety.
The pistol is as inherently safe as any striker fired pistol, so I'm not too worried about wiping it off under stress.

no issues with the safety on mine. it is very easy and smooth for me to operate with one hand. no reason for me to change how i am pointing the gun.

I'm guessing the 2.0 is not yet on the Cali 'approved' list.
To get the P365 in, it was necessary to add a magazine safety, and a mechanical loaded chamber indicator. A manual safety was already available.
At least, so it is reported on the SIG board.

I hired my grandson to work the safety for at least a continuous hour. It did loosen it up a bit. His thumbs are sore and he said he'll be back next week. Stay tuned......

It’s the light trigger pull I’m worried about.

Don’t give up on it the more you use the safety it loosens up…..just keep playing the safety on and off. Mine were a little tough when I first got them; now I can flick them on and off with my thumb.

Sweet little pistol, the safety improves with use or it did for me. I’ve seen complaints about the sights but mine are dead on, critical defense lands bullseye at 7 yards, glad I made the purchase.

ine does shoot a little left but not enough to miss my target. The thumb safety is OK when taking it off, however it does require lots of effort to engage. I don't see that as a problem.

The extremely stiff safety is a perfect compliment to the extremely stiff recoil spring which also compliments the extremely still magazine springs. . They all break in somewhat but man....out of the box they are rough. And no....its not because they are a tiny .380....the Ruger Max is nothing like them and never was and its even smaller. I own both.

Galloway Precision said they hope to have a stronger Striker Spring.....by years end, (last year). They state this is to improve ignition on harder primers but will also increase trigger pull by 1.5-2 lbs.
If interested an e-mail to them might hurry them up a little.
But, it is better if they so slow and get it right than get it to market sooner and it not be perfect.
