Wow! The Moderators may have to change this Forum to "The Bodyguard 2.0". It looks like 90% of the recent Threads and Posts are related to the Bodyguard 2.0 with its pros, cons, issues, concerns, etc. I'm not going to comment because I don't own a BG, and based on what I'm reading, probably never will (although I do really like the M&P Shields and M&P 2.0s). I'm not a fan of the .380, but I know that a lot of Forum members are...particularly with the newer more powerful ammo. I was just surprised at the number of BG Posts! I hope that S&W can resolve the issues with the BG.

Lemons happen with all manufacturers, mine has been fine. I’ve only seen a few issues that would be concerning for me like the ejector falling out or slide lockup with round chambered. All other nickel dime issues are no biggie like recoil assy, FTFs, sights.

My Bodyguard 2.0 has also been flawless. I think at a sub $400 price point (got mine for $374.99), a lot of people have been buying them.

It's my first mini and I was impressed with the ergonomics and concealability. It shoots very well for what it is.

As for it being a 380, I believe multiple 380 hollow-point shots would make up for any under poweredness in a close quarters defensive situation.

Mine is going back under warranty because the safety has gotten very loose to the point I can tap the butt of the gun and the safety will "look" engaged but the gun will fire. On the positive though you could still treat this gun as a non safety version because once it is past the spring detent no amount of butt tapping will get it to move. Ie, in a pinch I could still use it as a NTS model. Of course, I am sending it in to get fixed.

Sights were visibly off to the left and shot left (rear sight). Any monkey should be able to drift a sight and I am that monkey so that isn't a problem anymore.

The RSA is an unholy bear to reinstall. Sometimes. That is the oddity to my mind. If I disassemble the gun 10 times it will easily slide into position 5 times in a row and I will think the problem has been solved. Then the next 5 times I spend 10 minutes just getting it back in place. Kind of crazy.

I have found what for me is a workable, albeit not ideal, workaround. On the times when it just won't budge I resort to "brute" force. I paraphrase brute because what I am about to describe is anything but. I happen to have a Magpul Glock mag that seems to live on the top of my desk. Obviously all plastic this mag. When the RSA won't seat, I grab the Magpul Glock mag and use the plastic baseplate as an impromptu mallet and tap the back of the RSA into place. So far it has instantly worked every single time I have tried this. This should not be the final solution but it isn't a show stopper to me.

I love these guns. 380 is not 9mm, but I find this gun way easier to carry than my 365's which never felt big until I held the BG2.0. I carry this everywhere now which I did not do even with the statistically not much larger 365. That marginal measurement difference though feels huge on my waistline.

I own both the M&P Bodyguard and the Bodyguard 2.0! I prefer the M&P way better no issues with it unlike the 2.0! I know I can fully tust my life with the M&P but not the BG 2.0! I will never again buy or recommend buying a first year handgun! Best to wait 3-4 years. I love everything about my S&W M&P Bodyguard 380 ❤️😊

I have the Bodyguard 2 and when I first got it I couldn't rack the slide. I'm old so I figure it to my being too weak (however I can rack the slide on all my other guns - about 18 or so). At a suggestion from one of the members, I bought the Handi racker and it works but is another thing that I have to use at the range. So, I got the Talon grips and with those on I am able to rack the slide. Good thing as I was considering selling the gun and now I can keep it.

I have a very early model that thankfully has been flawless. I changed the sights and find it very accurate, consistant hits on an 8" plate at 25 yards is easy.

To Larry’s point, the Bodyguard 2 is a mighty slick gun from the the git go - so Talon grips likely help.

The slide dimensions make it difficult to get much purchase when racking. The frame and protruding controls also contribute to challenge in the racking, both in the classic slingshot and with an over-the-top pinch. This is more a statement than a criticism. It is a small gun in all dimensions, but especially the slide.

The ability to rack in a hurry, especially without a red dot on top, is probably an issue of minor consequence… It is not a gun for run-n-gun magazine changes. That said, I have not made the BG2.0 a carry gun, as I found it too hit or miss to run a failure drill where a round needs to be manually cycled, such as FTE or FTF.

I tried a BG for the first time about a week ago. I liked it a lot, but the trigger pull seemed extremely long to me. It modulated well, and I felt like I could stack the trigger just before it fired, but wow, that trigger pull was a long one. I'm kind of on the fence about that characteristic.

Same problem. The Talon grips work well and before the grips, I resorted to wearing gloves.
