Bodyguard 2.0 Magazines
Purchased a new 12-round magazine for my Bodyguard 2.0, mid-September. Out of the box, the mag would not allow more than three rounds to be loaded. I disassembled the unit, wiped it down, but had no more success after reassembly. I own three other 2.0 mags with no issues. I called Customer Service and the rep indicated that other people have had this same problem. He agreed to send me a replacement with a prepaid label to return the defective mag. To date, some thirty days and two contacts afterward, I haven't received a thing. Yesterday, I was told by phone that my claim was on file and the rep had no idea why I hadn't received the promised replacement yet. Is it possible that this is a widespread problem with the new 2.0 mags, with issues that the factory isn't explaining? Anyone else having these magazine failures?

Yup, it's a common problem here and solved by clipping a tiny piece of the follower leg or praying for SW to send you one that by some miracle doesn't have the same design flaw.

When I was firing my BG2.0 in the desert yesterday, I experienced the stupid “spike in follower underside sticking out of the mag release cut” problem. You know it when your 12-rounder won’t allow more than 3 rounds in.
I just pushed in the baseplate release tab, slid off the baseplate and sleeve, removed the spring and follower, and broke out my multi-tool, which has a coarse and a fine file on it.
I ground away the weirdly-fang-like protuberance on the bottom of the follower and replaced all components. No further issues reared their heads.
Come on, S&W! Give us a properly-tested product!

Or, you can simply push down with the Maglula until it stops, give it a good whack from the top, and problem solved. The offending "fang like" protrusion will be severed.... never to return. Don't waste your time calling customer service, as no matter how you do it, it can be easily rectified.

As said previously, you can remove the front fangs and eliminate the problem. Another way is when you get to the third round, using your Maglula, just go into the mag half way and use the Maglula tongue to push on the center of the cartridge instead of the head. It works.

Thanks for your collective advice. Since I called S&W the day after I bought this mag, it is clearly a manufacturing/design oversight. I'll give C.S. a few more days to send a replacement, as promised. They indicated that my original mag should be returned when I receive the new one. I hesitate to start cutting and filing, raising the issue that I created the problem. Aside from this flaw, the Bodyguard 2.0 has has impressed me with several hundred rounds downrange.

Just received the promised replacement magazine from S&W-- fifty-one days! Customer Service did not request the original defective mag be returned. New mag loads/functions perfectly-- notably, the described "fangs" seem to trimmed back. The new mag was not shipped in retail packaging. Understandably, I've gone ahead and whittled the fangs on my other BG 2.0 mags. All work 100%, now. Obviously, the factory knows this is a QC problem that large numbers of buyers are struggling with. The solution is simple and effective. Thanks Forum members for your accurate advice.
