I'm planning on the Nikon M308 with BDC reticle. They're $100 off through the end of March. 6-18x40. Comes with mount.

Yeah, I coudn't find the BDC in stock so I went Nikoplex from Cabellas. Tough to beat that price when it incldues a mount.
My M&P 15 and 15-22 were getting lonely so I picked up a big brother for them. :-) The Nikon looks nice. The AR 15 is loaded with a Leupold Mark AR and for xmas my lovely wife picked up an EOTech for me. The combo is nice..(but I'm afraid she's going to want the same setup on her AR.) Will be interesting to see how how the Nikon compares to the Leupold Mark AR.

Mounted up the nikon, very nice scope!! Only plinked some rounds thru it, cant wait to get it dialed in. Love the mount and how everything looks! Nice eye relief, very well built and solid! Cant compare to a leupold, but for the price i think the nikon would be hard to beat!

Got to shoot one of these today with a Leopold VX-II 3-9x40 on a Leopold mount. Elevation cranked all the way and still had to shoot a foot low to hit target. Anybody else have scope issues on their M&P-10? Strapped on some iron sights and they seemed more in the ball park than a foot... Rang the 100 yard gong 10 for 10.
First impression is that the handguard is about the cheapest thing I've ever seen, the gas block is ugly, the flash hider is kinda funky looking on the pencil barrel and it would do well with one of my Mako GL-shock buttstocks. Ambi safety, mag and bolt release are pretty slick. I'm addicted to QD swivel points, which it is sorely lacking.

Lots of forum members are using the Leupold 3-9x40 VX-R Patrol. Just wondering how you folks like it. Should I just start a new thread?

Night force NXS 3.5-15x50 F1 with H59 reticle mounted with LaRue QD. Sighted in for 200 meters. Stretched it out to 500 meters and was still hitting the silhouette using a rangebag as a rest. Incredible optic, incredible rifle.

My mp 10 might not be a sniper rifle but don't let anything out to 300 yds get in my sites I have the Burris fulfield 11 4.5 x14 with the ballistic plex with a burris mount now Im older than some on here and at 64 300yds is a long ways for me but my first shot out to 50 yds was dead center and when I move to 125 yds same thing and when I went to 300 I was a 1/2 in off center so I love both very much

Exactly what I was thinking!
I felt Like I way over did it with a 1.5-6X-40 scope!
A 1-4X would have been more than adequate, but I got a decent deal on a used scope that I couldn't pass up.
The scope will be mainly for deer hunting, and coyote shooting.
When target shooting, we shoot as much with the Troy HK style BUIS as we do the scope.
Want to add an Aimpoint T-1 red dot with a QD mount to the mix.
Am thinking about offset iron sights, as they are usable without removing the scope or red dot sight.

500 plus bucks for an Eotech... my PA scope and mount was under 300
my M&Ps mission might also be different than yours.
A close to intermediate range combat rifle may be ill served with a 4-14x rifle scope, but a intermediate to long range predator or target rifle will equally be ill served with a combat optic
not to mention my eyes don't do well with irons for precision work anymore.
but you know what? they not only make vanilla ice cream, they also make chocolate.
this is also the United States of want...not the United States of need ... and a free country...(for now at least)

Exactly what I was gonna say!
My M&P is primarily for deer and hog hunting
To each his own.

Different strokes for different folks. I enjoy trying my abilities at 500+ yds, so a holographic or red dot is not worth much. I am equipping my rifle for it's intended role, hence a scope, free floating handguard and bipod.

I prefer some middle ground. I have the Trijicon TA11E on top and really like the ability it gives me. I think the 3.5 is about the best all around for me. Course as my eyes get older, I might be trading it in for something with a bit more magnification.

For you younger guys that still have the good eyes, the Eotech and Aimpoint that work for you now; are great sights. As you put on some more years, you will find the single dot even x3 or x 6just will not get it. It is just a part of life, so you will find a sighting device some place between 3-9 or 4-12 is what you will need to be looking for.
On my MP10 with a Leupold VX. R4-12x50 Fire Dot and on a set of A.R.M.S # 22 H work just great for a 68 year old shooter. Enjoy your youth it’s shocking how fast it is gone.

Like you, I got mine 'cause I liked the lightweight aspects of the M&P10. Been shooting mine on the range this Summer with a huge 10X scope just to test the accuracy and work up my reloads. However, now that the Fall is here, my Leupold 2-7 X36 is installed and ready to find a big bull in the heavy timber. This thing is gonna' fill my freezer soon enough!

Jake - would you recommend the Leupold Firedot? Any issues with battery life? I'm thinking about moving my ACOG to my AR10 and putting something like this on my SCAR 17. My eyes are 15 years younger than yours, but are showing their age, if you know what I mean...

I just got an M&P 10 on Sept 30 when many MD stores were staying open late before SB281 took effect on Oct 1 (although this rifle is still unregulated.)
I had bought this scope to play with on my AR but decided to put it on the M&P 10 for now:
Primary Arms 1-6X Scope with ACSS Reticle
$249.99 plus mount

I normally run Eotech 512's on a couple of my AR's but wish to see what else in red dots folks are using so I ordered a Redfield Counterstrike. I have read glowing reports on it but have not seen feedback from actual users.

Saving for Viper PST 4-16x50 FFP, will be using it mainly for range up to 200-500 yards as my eyes are not what they used to be for now have Leupold VX-3 2.5-8x36mm.

I did and I like it! Need to do some 7.62 load development but I have an Eotech 512 on my 5.56 and it made sense to do the same on my M&P 10. Unlikely for me to be able to shoot long distance around here so the fun will be 300 yards or less with the XR308

If you insist on a scope--> HORUS VISION HDMR w/ H59 Retcile.
Does away with having a bothersome spotter whispering comeups in your ear!

+1 That's the way I went on my M&P10 too... not cheap, but good optics never are.
