Hello all, I want to replace the standard handguards with a 13.8" Troy MRF LP quadrail, but am confused as to what the best brand for a low profile gas block is. I read some of you weren't too happy with the Troy, others suggested Sadlak or VLTOR. Also what size should I order? The Troy comes in 0.936 and 0.75 inch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The only cautions I am aware of are the clamp on styles, other than that there just isn't much to them.

Adjustables are another matter and I have no first hand info

I won't speculate which one is better, but I put the .75 inch low profile on my latest build, which placed this block over a Yankee Hill Machine 20 inch barrel. It fit perfectly. So far, so good.

Either one of those should work fine. The set-screw type blocks should have plenty of room under the MRF handguard.

I prefer the clamp style gas block. They can be spread slightly for easy installation and I believe they are more secure than a set screw type, Especially when there are no dimples on the bottom of the barrel. They can be a tighter fit under a handguard. I used a Vltor under my MRF handguard. There was plenty of clearance.

+1. YHM makes a nice clamp on gas block that I have used several times on AR-15 builds, some with Troy TRX hand guards.
