So, anyone have an eotech 512 that they use regularly on their mp10? I have mine on my dpms .223/5.56, just curious. :)

I have the XPS 3-0 with G33 3x magnifier on my MP15TS ... if there was greater magnification available in the 8x or 12x range, I would consider an Eotech on my MP10.

Eh.. I just wonder how it would hold up to the .308 shock.

I would guess any of the Eotechs will hold up to the recoil. I run an Eotech 552 XR308 on my M&P 10 and I don't believe anything was specially designed for the 7.62 other than the BDC marks of course. I haven't had a chance to put many rounds down range yet so this is just my opinion.

Eotech

I have a 552 that I have used for years....run it on 308 M1A Socom, HK91's/PTR's, AK's, AR's & Mp5's, Saiga 12 ga....even had it on a Barrett M82....never had a moments problem with it...I have a throw lever base on mine.

I personally would prefer one of the EOTech models that has the battery mounted transversely, such as an XPS2 or EXPS2. Not saying you'll have any problems with a 512, but I've read about issues some people have had with the battery contacts on models where the battery or batteries are mounted in parallel to the axis of recoil.

Don't worry about recoil. I used an XPS 2 on a Mossberg 930 shotgun for duck season, it worked great.

EOTECH has a rebate going through the 31st i think so you should be able to get the 512 for about 300 after rebate. Not bad, they say they are rating to 50 cal recoil, thinking about putting one on my SW500 just for fun.

Eh, they say that, but ive read that the battery casing can become overly jostled and loosen the interior, and you have to replace the casing.. I already dropped 350 on it, just do not want to add more to it lol.

My rifle has an Eotech that has already done 2 tours of Iraq, on an M4, and a year and a half of hog hunting on the 308.

It was decommissioned from service when the battery terminals smacked loose, and they then upgraded the rifle it ran on with the XPS2, or 3, so the one I have went to the parts bin, even though it worked fine after the terminal was repaired.
After tour #2 ended, the armorer was told to clear out the bins of 'old, useless gear.' And, so it was deemed that the 512 would either be blown up or buried in the desert, or sent home. And that is how it eventually made its' way to me. Decommed, and signed off.
A year and a half of my hog hunting with the 308, and who knows how much abuse it saw riding with the Army. Holds a zero like a champ. And, FWIW, it's zero is pretty much the same whether it is mounted on an M4 or a 308. I guess rail height in relation to the barrel is pretty equal out to 75yds or so.
They are really well built. The only improvement one can do is the foam behind the battery terminal mod. This fixes any issue with the battery contacts.

I have one on a .308 SOCOM, never had an issue. It's a perfect sight for it.

Sounds good. Next time I take her to the range I will try her out.. I am giving my DPMS oracle 223/556 to my son for graduation, I was thinking about including the eotech, but since you say she stays clean on the .308 I may just take her with me.. ;)
