Anyone know where to find another one of these to compare value? im not looking to sale mine but would be cool to know what its acually worth. I've read on here that maybe only 512 made around 1991? I was not able to find one for sale anywhere online.

Back when it was believed there were only 512 (the TFB0047-0558 group) I stumbled on a 6944 with a TZB s/n prefix and bought it thinking I had found a Unicorn.

But I did some research and got some confirmation of additional groups from Roy. There were at least 5 S/N groups of 6944 made from 1990-94. Best Current guess around 1000-1100 6944 built.

The initial 1990 production was the 512 you refer to s/n TFB0047-TFB0558 Product Code 103124 (square trigger guard). There were another 230 1992-93 within the non exclusive S/N group TVD0468-TVD0760. The 3rd group, also 1992-93 unknown quantity - observed TZB6740 and TZB6817 Product Code 108138 (curved trigger guard). The 4th group of 55 in 1993 includes TZZ3287 and TZZ3317. The last known group was 100 pistols (per Roy) in 1994 s/n VAC5242-VAC5342 (yes I know thats 101) Product Code 108137.

As to value - a lot depends on quality, accessories (original box etc.) but mostly on who is buying and how bad they want it. It also might depend on whether seller knows what he has - but they do not really seem to be significantly more collectible than other 3rd Generation Pistols.

I have seen them go cheap and I have seen them go high - range low $3xx bare, single mag, no box to $6xx in great shape with original box and 2 mags. Thats a range but I have also seen good condition listed at high $4xx with no bids.

thanks for the information. It seems that I may have overpaid for mine. mine falls into the tzb -6740-6800 series you referred to with the round trigger guard. Its in good shape overall with some light wear on muzzle. No box, and only 1 mag, I gave $575+tax.
No regrets though -I actually made a new post regarding this pistol before i saw your reply. its waiting on A moderator to approve. There is a Photo.

6944

Enjoy your 6944 !! I bought mine from my LGS. first I saw it, and was curious then went home to research...called them to hold it for me. it was $425.00 with one mag no box or docs did have a generic black carry case, and I feel lucky to have it. I am more into Stainless 3rd gen but got excited about this one due to the rarity. Will have to take it out and shoot it soon...Pictured are 6944 and my 6946

I wouldnt say you overpaid - i gave a range. As in any transaction it depends on how bad you want it and how bad the seller wants to move it.
Also if its a retail store or private seller who knows or doesnt know 3rd generation pistols. The retail store has to pay overhead but they might negotiate more if its been in stock a while with no interest - unicorn or not. Most gun stores are more interested in selling you a new Glock and may not recognize or care much about a 20-30 year old 3rd gen pistol. But there is also tax to figure in a retail store.
But in my experience if you say a pistol is worth $500 you should expect to pay $450-550 for it.
On a given day at a retail store i might pay 525 + 50 tax for a nice 6944 if i wanted it and couldnt negotiate better.
As to mags single mags seem ti be more common these days with used 3rd gen 9mm mags going for $50-60+/-
