M&P 10 free float handguard
Hi all,
Purchased my M&P10 in March 2015 and have slowly been upgrading it a little at a time.
Modifications include: Magpul STR stock, Magpul MIAD GEN 1.1 Grip, Daniel Defense 1 o'clock rail mounts (currently have Magpul pop ups installed, getting a Burris Fastfire reflex in a few weeks), Nikon M308 scope and mount, and just dropped in a AXTS Weapons Raptor Ambidextrous Charging Handle today and had to make no modifications which was nice. I eventually wanted to put a free float on it but just to get something on it I purchased a UTG 2 piece handguard because it said it fit M&P10 and it went on without any issues.
Now that I have it pretty much where I want it I am wanting to install a 15" free float handguard and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?
I have never installed a free float but have been watching quite a few videos and have all the tools to tackle the project just not sure who makes a descent one.

I cannot complain about mine from Midwest Ind.
Diamondhead is making one now. Pure sex in look and feel, if a bit heavy! I have a 13.5 on an AR.

I picked up an el cheap-o from Ebay. It is a little heavy but I like it so far. Came with 5 rails.

Midwest Industries 15" MLOK DPMS low profile...
Btw, attaching a bipod directly to your barrel as you show in your post above is about the worst thing you can do to your rifle accuracy wise.

I installed the 13.5" Diamondhead USA VRS T-308L (Low profile) free floating hand guard (#2351), on M&P10 (#811310). Also installed a low-profile Geissele Super Gas Block - Nitride (05-231N).

I went with the 12.625" Apex Hand guard. Just to give you a feel of what a shorter one would look like. I think with a 15" you would just have the muzzle break or flash hider poking out. It depends on the look you want to go with. Edit: I stand corrected, a bit more of the barrel would be showing.

I'm going to be installing an Odin Works Kmod 15.5in on my M&P10. Lightest 15in key mod rail that I have found.

just got my mp10 back from s.w. for the second time. same problems on both sendbacks. wouldn't feed and if it did then it might shoot, if it did fire it might not eject. and that 5 round magazine that came with mine, well lets not go there.
I really appreciate all of its potentials, and hope in the future that I may have better luck.

figured out the 5 round mag is poorly designed out of the box. The 1st round in jams the follower onto the notches after loading the last round, causing the follower to get stuck inside. No spring pressure to push the rounds up into the chamber after firing cause the follower is stuck. I had brought along my 10 rd Magpul mag from my Colt 901, it fits the MP10.. no problems using that mag.

I also purchased the Diamondhead 15" rail for my Camo MP10. I stopped in to Diamondhead this morning, they actually had a green one that had been coated for one of their dealers that was returned.. It fits beautifully and looks great on my MP.. I use their rails on most of the AR's I build, most comfortable handguard out there.

im a fan of the midwest handguards, but check out a company called JL Billet, they make some sweet ones and they will fit the mp10, also included is a low profile barrel nut so you dont hafta mess with timing and can torque to exact spec you desire

For the record the Diamondhead handguards all come with a low profile nut. Easiest install out there.... no timing issues to deal with

My only complaint with the Diamondhead is the way they using and overlapping spacer to keep the rail from rotating and the screws are tapped into aluminum threads. I installed a sling mount on the rail portion that overlaps the intersection of the hand guard end and the upper receiver to ensure no rotation. It is a really nice hand guard.

It won't rotate if the lock bolts are torqued properly. But I like your =xtra insurance. .
