I swapped the flash hider for a brake and I want to switch back to the hider, but I don't remember if it came with a crush washer? :o

Did it?

And thank you.

The original flash hider had a crush washer. Just my opinion but you should replace it with a new one. For simplicity's sake, I would suggest getting some muzzle device locknuts instead. No having to worry about getting the timing right with them. I did that with my MVP and it was so much easier than swapping crush washers to get the timing right.

I had an extra 308 crush washer laying around.

But I have to ask, what do you mean by "timing"?

Just for info, Brownells has shims in varying thicknesses for the 5.56 rifles, which I used as a crush washer was not quite giving me the alignment I wanted ("timing"=having the closed portion of the gas ports down at 6 o'clock to cut downward blast and dust upon firing). If you want to get precise alignment without hoping the crush washer will give it to you within desired torque limits, stacked shims will do it with minimum fuss.

Don't know if they have them for .30 caliber but you could check. I may put a brake on my 10 some time...tried a Ruger scout rifle with a brake and it was quite a revelation.

Don't bother with crush washers, use shims.

Take the original flash suppressor, tie to a rope and use it to anchor your boat next time you go fishing. Find a much smaller & lighter 30 caliber flash suppressor instead

They pretty much answered it but timing has to do with getting the muzzle device facing the right way. It depends on the device as to what you are looking to face the right way but most flash hiders have a closed part on the bottom to prevent dust from flying every time you shoot.
