Well not exactly "No Modification" you do need to take off your front sling swivel.

So far I love it (A Xmas gift worth waiting for). "It" is a Troy Battlerail Delta, they make a Charlie version that is a quad rail (I like tubes). It is extremely lightweight, and after the first time you install it, when it "makes sense" it is a breeze to take off and reinstall (if need be)!

I like that I can get my long arms further out on the handguard, and I love not having to take off my FSB or delta ring. It had me falling in love with my rifl...wife all over again!

I havent beat it up or "run it hard" so I have no say in how robust it is (but if I had to guess it will have no problem at all).

Couldn't decide (like a lot of others) on what to do with my FSB wanting a longer handguard so I'm glad I found this. I haven't seen too much info on it.

So basically it is just another option for those with a carbine gas system with a FSB wanting a free float option with more real estate on the handguard.

Looks great!

I actually purchased the same rail but got tried of waiting for it to come over the holidays so I canceled the order. After seeing it on your gun makes wish I hadn't. How is it with the bottom section of rail, I was worried it would be right where I would want my hand.

Here's another one I had considered that also has the front sight pocket to keep the A2 sight. You get the carbine handguard and then a extension peace with the sight pocket. And its all smooth but you got to change barrel nut and loose the delta ring. http://www.jprifles.com/1.4.4_hg_mod.php

I like those jp tubes, also very slick.

The knife edge of my pinky finger on my off hand sits a little less than 1/3 to 1/2 back on the bottom rail section, I thought it would be bothersome but I really don't even notice.

I have been 100% happy with this handguard.

Good idea....but I'm sorry, it is so butt ugly....the part that is around all those circle cutouts in the tube. What is that stuff? Plastic inserts?

They are rubber inserts made for troy handguards, similar to the rail ladder idea. I would have preferred black inserts but this is what they had, and that wasn't a deal breaker.

"Butt ugly" is a matter of opinion that you are entitled to (no need to be sorry, I'm a big boy). I doubt this look is for everyone (but it works for me).

I like aluminum tube handguards, but I don't like quad rails, it is more a matter of "feel" for me. Just different strokes for different folks.

P.S.
Thanks for your service in the Navy!

No problem....I've had lots of folks tell me my Savage 10 FCP HS-Precision is butt ugly....and the same for my FNAR....(sometimes they might even be right about the FNAR!) :D

And thank you. I wish one of my kids would have gone into the military. That would have made a 4 generation tradition...oh well. :(

That Savage is a "Beast"!!! The FNAR is not a looker, but it too is a beast of a rifle!

Thanks for the post and pictures.

I'm courious as to how this handguard mounts if you don't have to remove the delta ring etc.

I will try to articulate it the best I can.

It is a two piece design, the top half is the small piece, and has a delta ring bridge and runs from the receiver to the FSB.

The bottom half is the larger piece, and is a full tube at the muzzle end (the extended part in front of the FSB). There are tracks machined in for the top piece closer to the FSB (aft section).

It comes with two small clamps and four screws (left and right side, two screws each side). The clamps slide into tracks on the inside of the handguard, and fit on the inside of the barrel nut.

-Slide the bottom half over the barrel, and insert into the delta ring.

-Then insert the clamps (tip: twist the handguard slightly to the opposite side or you'll be scratching your head), once both clamps are in, insert the bottom screws and hand tighten (you will need to twist a little later to make sure you have proper alignment)

-Align the tabs at the front of the top half with the tracks in the bottom half, pull back on the delta ring and push the top half forward and press into place (then you can release the delta ring)

-Insert the top two screws (tighten them). then finish tightening the bottom screws (I tightened slowly and went around in a circle, to hopefully apply even pressure).

And that was it. It is hard to envision but once you see it disassembled it makes complete sense.

So this handguard doesnt touch the front dust cap that is behind the front sight at all? The mounting looks similar to the Daniel Defense Modular 12.0 handguard that I have.

You are correct!

The DD looks similar to the troy alpha rail, I know they make a handguard with the cut out similar to the troy that I bought, but the difference is with the troy, no need to remove the delta ring assembly.
