Is there a such an animal available stock from S&W? I've looked all over their site and searched this forum and find no evidence of this... (I know Stag and some others make lefty ARs)

Does anybody have any info about one being made in the future if they are not out there?

Thanks in advance for the responses!

The AR platform is a mil-spec set-up. I've never seen a left handed one, and it wouldn't swap parts with every other AR on the planet.

I didn't think anyone made one.

You don't need it. Do some searching for ambi parts or go shooting stock it will run fine either way

A buddy who works on SWAT uses a lefty Stag and said he couldn't live without it. He will shoot my M&P but I don't worry about him falling in love with it.

I have a MP15-22 and I shoot that left handed, but from what I'm reading, if available, a 5.56-223 might be nicer to shoot if a lefty was available...

All you have to do is swap out a couple of commercially available parts and you can make any MSR style rifle to a lefty. Its not hard nor really expensive to do.

Well how cool is that! :D

You'd obviously have to swap the upper, but do you mean take off the barrel and put it on the left handed upper?

And you'd need a new bolt carrier right? Is that it?

Any idea what it may cost? Like under $200?

Yep you replace the upper and I just believe the bolt. It has been awhile since I looked it up. My wife is a left and I had built a right handed MSR for her. I was going to swap it over to lefty for about $400. We ended up selling it to our Preacher though.

I had thought about getting a lefty set up, but decided against it, out of a concern for spare parts availability. Most right handed rifles aren't a problem. The only thing that really concerns me is what might happen with an over pressured round or squib.

Spare parts availability is a big thing to take into consideration. If you run a left hand upper, then you are at the mercy of the company if you need to replace anything. If you do decide to go with a left hand upper, then I would also buy any spare parts you may need so you will have those on hand if something does break.

Nowadays there are a lot of great options out there to make the AR15 left hand friendly. Plus if you get into carbine matches or take carbine classes having an ambidextrous rifle can be useful.

Brownells has all the parts to turn your rifle left handed...other than the BCG and Bolt body all regular repair parts will work. As the world is right now we are not at the end of the world yet so you would be able to get replacement parts! Plus the major parts that would be changed have a pretty long life cycle!!, Ejector repair parts, Bolt repair parts and firing pin remain unchanged.

Adapt and Overcome. The motto of us left-handers, and some branch of military which I can't recall at the moment. :)

What if you decide you want to trade or sell it? It's gonna be hard to move. I'm left handed and shot a GI issue M16 left handed. Shooting prone, once in a while a piece of hot ejected brass would manage to find its way under my shirt collar and it was hell to get out. I shoot my 15-22 left handed with no problems. Attach a shell deflector to the top rail.

The left handed rifles that I have seen come up for sale on a couple of sights...I quit using the big name auction sights...there are a few good ones that just show private sellers with no auctions. This would be easier if I could name the sites. Anyway the left handed ones seem to sell pretty well....there are always lefties wanting to buy a left handed rifle.......

I forgot in listing the parts that a person would want to put on an ambi safety and probably a Magpul B.A.D. Lever for ease of operation!!!

I just purchased a lefthanded Stag Arms at a show from a guy who walked in the door with it. I debated which way to go for several reasons. With a deflector on it, it should never be a problem shooting a right handed model. I went on one sight where a lefty shooter posted that he had had both and went back to a right handed model for a couple of reasons. One was that he could easily check the action of a right handed model if there was a problem without having to flip the gun over to see the chamber, bolt area. He said that he has no problems shooting a right handed rifle at all. All you need is a lefthanded safety and maybe a charging handle.
