Daniel Defense Omega Carbine Rail, Any Experience?
I'm looking at a Daniel Defense Omega Carbine Rail 7.0, for my M&P15.
Any comments or criticism or experience with these quick install free-float rails?
Yes, I know they are expensive.
Thanks in advance and to all a Happy New Year.

I am familiar with it....put one on my M&P15 OR a couple of years ago. Here is the Daniel Defense Omega 7.0 installation write-up and my comments regarding it. You are welcome to browse it.
That reminds me, I need to update that web page with some comments now that I've had it installed for a couple of years. This is what it looks like on my M&P15.

Stu,
Excellent write-up! She looks to work as advertised!
Thanks for taking the time to do the pictures and the install documentation. Good job!
My 5R barrel is so accurate already, I thinks she deserves the boost from the free-float rail. Looks like a great combination.
All the best,

When comparing fit for the 7 and 9, would the 7 be the default rail size? I'm assuming the 9 would be longer which would interfere with the stock gas block.

The 7 is the default size.
Do they still manufacture these? I had heard they have been discontinued.

How much are/were they? It's still a drop in but being a DD I bet it's not cheap.

For those who have them, was it comfortable to hold like you would with the default hand guard?

It's a quad rail, almost all of those are uncomfortable to hold. My KAC quad rail (half the price of the DD and just as rock solid) is way too rough to hold without gloves or rail covers. That's the nature of the beast with a quad rail.
