I was toying with the idea of a vertical fore grip, but I think that I may be more comfortable with an angled fore grip. Any pros or cons to an angled fore grip? Is there any brand that I should stay away from, or do most of them serve the same purpose?

They all do the same thing but a lot depends how you use them. For me them are not something I hold onto while shooting necessarily. I use it more like a stop or hand position point which keeps me from moving my hand forward or backward. I currently use the short BCM grip.

I have been toying with the idea of using the BCMGUNFIGHTER KAG because it has a smaller profile.

The pro for the AFG is that it doesn't stick out as much and still gives you something to brace on a barrier as long as they have that lip at the bottom of the grip.

The AFG and the VFG are mainly a comfort item in my view. Depending on the person, gripping the traditional hand guard can be less comfortable or uncomfortable for them. If you don't need it, I wouldn't put it on since either one is more weight to swing around but if you do, there is nothing wrong with having one. AFGs tend to be lighter than VFGs as a general rule.

I have a Magpul AFG2 that I don't use.
PM me your address if you want to give it a try.

I mounted a KAG on a .22 build. Eh... it fits the narrow KeyMod well and doesn't much change the grip angle as you mentioned. I don't particularly care for the narrowness against the hand. The wider Magpul XTM Hand Stop Kit feels better but of course would require a rail section mounted on the KeyMod. I might try BCM's KeyMod Hand Stop kit.

Did you mean to say Yankee Hill's KeyMod Hand Stop kit? That is what comes up from the link.

Edit looks like the link is gone. Can you link to the part you are referring to.

I put one of these on one of my AR's.....I'm still trying to decide the best way to use it.....so far wrapping my middle finger around the finger loop and index and thumb around the top of guard works so far.....got it from a supplier in Texas less the 25 bucks delivered....made of aluminum...don't bear paw when tightening the screws...don't ask me how I know:o .............................................................................................

This is the one that I ordered this morning:

I opted for the magpul afg when I ordered the moe sl handguard. The grip allowed me to not have to bend my wrist as much to get the best hold. I had it mounted foward but moved it back which felt better.

I switched to the Magpul AFG from a vertical, because I found that I could twist the forend noticeably.

You need to slow down and stop buying off brand stuff. You need to shoot your rifle and other people's setup if possible and then buy quality stuff that fits you.

...or he can stop asking questions then make up his own mind anyway.

True, the same can be said of buying name brand stuff as well, as I am sure a lot of us have accumulated several name brand accessories in a junk box, that seemed like a good idea when purchased, but didn't work for us what ever the reason once we put it on the rifle.

Scar333, as others have said, shoot your rifle bone stock for a while then check out other people's setups and it can save you a lot of money in the long run. This will give you a baseline feel for your rifle as well.

For example I thought the magpul angled fore grips looked like the bee's knees, so I ordered two of them. I didn't care for them at all, once I got them on my rifles, and the different color of the second one didn't make me like it any better either.:):o:D

Looks good. Details?

HM Defense ..HM-15...everything made in house...billet lower..forged upper...they do use Magpul stocks, grips and mags ;),,sweet shooter;)..Vortex Strikefire 2...I bought 2 from a guy that needed quick cash...1 with about 50 rounds fired and another new unfired by him...I called HM to see if i could transfer warranty...which they did with no hesitation....and Clay the owner got on the phone and said since I only live about an hour from the facility...to bring the used one by and he would have his guys look it over and give me a tour of the manufacturing process :D;).....my shooting buddy told me I cant go without him so I'm waiting for him to take a vacation day :D.....HM Defense & Technology AR15......oh..and the bottle opener foregrip is a Fortis knockoff at about 25% of their price;)
