I was looking for a way to carry multiple AR magazines, maybe store them in a "Grab and Go" fashion, so I tried an old SKS chest bandolier I had laying around. This one is the seven pocket, the "Type 63", not the older smaller ten pocket version. This one has five pockets that will fit 20 round AR mags perfectly.

With my Sport II, it also has a stock magazine pouch to hold a magazine with the rifle:

Ebay has many sellers in China with these, many offering free shipping. They have warehouses full of SKS stuff over there, with few Chinese buyers of it, so thye love selling to us U.S. Sportsmen.....

That's a very servicable solution to the problem and I'll bet it was reasonably priced to boot.

Back when trespassers hunting deer at night were a problem on the farm (and my waist size was 32), I had this for my grab and go solution. The fanny pack was usually empty, but each of the four G.I. magazine pouches would hold two 30 round magazines.

By the way, ignore the cat in the right-hand side of the photograph. He's a ham at heart and all the attention will just inflate his ego.

I also notied, canoeguy, that you kept your Sport II competely stock.

Congratulations.

My older son didn't get along with the pop-up sight so he replaced it with a $20 carrying handle/adjustable rear sight but otherwise didn't change anything. My younger son has, like you, kept his just the way it came from the factory.

I think the Sport II loses its claim to be a good value as an entry level AR when people start pouring money into changing it.

I totally agree. I have returned my Sport II to the original condition. If I had known several months ago what I know now, I would still have purchased my Sport II, but I would have went ahead and purchased everything for my second AR that I ended up building anyway.
