CARVANA- Questionable Price Offer

Friend's neighbor has a car to sell.
I was interested and went to Kelly Blue Book and NADA for pricing info.

Seller showed me an Offer to Buy from CARVANA for $9600.
That was more than Kelly or NADA.

I ran the same car through CARVANA (using all options)
and their offer to me was only $8800.

I am not a cat, but I smell a rat ! ! !

I posted a while ago that during covid I purchased two late model used cars consecutively and sold them both for more than I paid for them. I bought both from dealers and sold both to online internet dealers. (Carvana, I think, and then Thrift(?) dealers

What I learned, by soliciting multiple offers over time from multiple online dealers was that offers varied quite a lot. The second car I got $3K, I think it was, more than the dealer offered me on trade in value on a new 2022 model.

In discussing with him why this was so, he said that for the online guys, running a nationwide business, they try to balance inventory available geographically, and lose money on some cars and make money on others.

I bet the offer is legit.
