A local dealer is telling me that they have, based on his inability to find any 'in the system'. He's never heard of them and his S&W supplier isn't showing any ever having been in inventory. Weird.......

Poor sales is my understanding--they could not differentiate it enough between the M&P and Sigma's.

A couple of months ago they were still listed on the website, just went and loooked- at first there was no link to SDs, I refreshed and the top of the list was SD9 & SD40. Clicked and got an error. Refreshed again, looked thru all 6 pages of "Pistols" and nada- no pic of an SD.
Now I'm troubled- not worried about service, but was considering trading my SD for another pistol- if they're no longer made, anyone think they'll hold their value pretty good now?

I'm sure in about 25-40 years they will start selling at collector premium prices. Ok...maybe I'm not sure.

gkitch, I understand completely- kinda like the weatherman, can't get it right for the weekend, but wants to tell us in 50 years there'll be no ice for the polar bears.
accessbob, I've been thinking about trading my SD, this just made the decision a little harder. Anybody wanta invest in a really nice pistol, that might be valuable- in 25-40 years?

Looks like the few up on GB are going for $400-$450...don't know whether that's good or bad news for you? Dump it now would be my advice...before it becomes a huge issue.

I'm not gonna sweat it- it's a Smith, and I like it well enough. If I run up on what I want, and have to take a minor beating ok- if major, I'll keep it. Figure I can't go wrong with an extra S&W in the drawer.

I kind of doubt sigma's will have any collector value. I'm not sure why you would even want one.

That's the right attitude, my thoughts were based on your apparent desire to rid yourself of it. A S&W will always go bang and be serviceable, so taking your approach, you should be good to go.

My SD9 doesn't eat much, so I see no need to find it a new home. My wife, however.........

The Sig does have the stainless- well, bright stainless- slide, so I gotta figure the new SD VE just means stainless slide. The trigger on my SD is better than the Sigma- I've only fired the SD not the Sig, but have read reviews saying SD's is better- named the 'SD Trigger,' in fact.
I had mentioned the pssoibility of trading my SD, with this news- I'll be holding on to it. Need to order the springs for sure now.
