After watching his SD9VE video this weekend, and then reading a number of reviews, I pulled the trigger on a new SD9VE. After checking with most gun stores here in Reno, there was nary a SD9VE to be found. Since a lot of their Smiths are "allocated", it was a real **** shoot. However, I called a local mom 'n pop and they had one. So after work, I went down and gladly paid the $379 MSRP. I know I could've found one "somewhere online" for cheaper, but didn't want to play the cat 'n mouse FFL game. It's born on date is 2-15-13. Why it was like handling freshly baked french bread right out of the oven! Hickok45's review sold me. Just got done stripping it down and oiling it. And what a nice feel! This was the first time I handled one. It will be nestled in the safe alongside a M&PFS, 910, & 669.

Congrats on the gun! I'm 650 flawless rounds in with my SD9 VE and love it. I use it as my EDC and cannot speak highly enough about this firearm. Enjoy!

They seem to be great value for the money. I'm slowly softening up to them. My first expierence with one was a first Generation Sigma. I hated it. Have they improved much?

From what I understand, a very much improved Sigma. The fit & finish of mine shows a quality piece.

welcome to the dark side! ;-) i love my SD40VE! Hickok45 made me feel even more comfortable with my purchase!

750 rds through my SD40VE and only one issue. Rear sight moved its way to the left a little bit. But no major flaws of the gun, has fired every single rd of ammo i have shoved in it and has ejected every rd flawlessly. Love this gun. Not a good carry gun for the summer though,at least for me so im lookjng to get that shield was they are in stock.

Chevythunder: You might want to check out Adams Holsters, his IWB is comfortable , conceals well, and I wear mine sometimes when my back is bothering me just for the support!! Long way from the pistol pouches/revolvers in the late 1970's. Be Safe,

Its not a generation of Sigma just similar it is its own line of pistols they are dropping Sigmas. It has features of both sigma and M&P its more like a hybrid.

I found my SD9VE 3 days at Academy for $299 plus tax. I gambled on it just based on the way it fit into my hand. I figured if it was a hunk of junk, I could at least re-coop some of the cost at a local gun show. I've put about 250 rounds through mine and I absolutely LOVE it.

This was my first S&W, as I have always owned Ruger and Springfield, but I'm now saving up to get the SD40VE.

I paid 399 for my sd9ve in minnesota(argiments about gun laws has made prices go up) and I was going from a bulky ruger p95 and this is like buying a porsche compared to that....my buddy has a taurus 24/7 and I will take the sw over that also.I love the way it feels in my hand, it carrys well, after the apex spring kit the trigger pulls much improved, no failures after over 1000 rds LOVE it

I shot 150 through mine today 1st time out and love it. I just would like to put night sights on it don't care alot for the white dots

The SDs are highly underated pistols, seems like everyone who has shot one comes away impressed.

I love my SD9VE! I only have 200 or so rounds through it, but no issues thus far. And I was very pleased to see hickok45's video on this gun.

I went into my LGS with my mind set on a Ruger SR9. He had one sitting next to the SD9, so I tried them both and just liked the feel of the Smith so much better, so I went with the SD9ve and even saved about $100 over the Ruger!! Have about 50 rounds through it and not a problem yet!

P.S. This is my first semi auto, I love my S&W 686-2.

The ONLY problem with the SD9or40VE is that they don't have any snob appeal. ;)

I really enjoy Hickcock 45, his reviews are very informative. Besides, he's an old guy like me but I wish I could shoot like that.

I bought a sd40 home defense kit. Came with a light and its own steel lock box. It doesn't like steel case ammo though. I had 2 lite strikes in a box of 50. But def a great buy. I have 3 Glocks and this gun is just as good as any. For a fraction of the cost
