Default SD9VE Apex trigger/spring install; good & bad

So I have both a SD9VE and SD9 and like them but goes without saying the factory triggers are heavy and creepy. Bought two of the Apex trigger & spring kits for them. Used the SD9VE as my beta test today. Installed all the springs and new Apex trigger. While the pull was much lighter and much of the take-up and over-travel was gone, the Apex trigger break felt like **** to me; it broke WAY back (basically to absolute rear of trigger guard) and if I pulled the trigger slowly it felt like it wasn't tripping the sear until I put more force at the most rearward position of trigger travel. Filed down the trigger stop portion as Apex instructs - helped a little but still, didn't like it - couldn't tell where or when it would break, and squeezing the trigger slowly resulted in an almost hesitancy of the trigger to break. Plus the blade trigger safety hung up slightly way more than any blade safety trigger I've shot before. Even had my son compare it to the stock SD9 trigger - and he said that he liked the stock SD9 better and had the same complaints about the Apex trigger.
So kept the Apex springs in it, but put the factory trigger back into the pistol. Now it still has that SD9VE trigger creep/travel, but the pull weight is reduced by maybe 40%? Noticeably better.
Still have to live fire to make sure it reliably shoots (I've read all the feedback about light primer strikes when putting in the Apex firing pin spring and sear issues). Right now it is functioning in dry fire perfectly.
YMMV, but food for thought for anyone considering the Apex kit - I'd recommend just the springs. Of course just my one-gun sample... after I live fire the SD9VE and confirm reliability, I'll install the other kit in the SD9 and see if the Apex trigger feels the same in that example.

Some years back I installed this in my 40E. Trigger wouldn't trip the sear at all. Put it back to stock and dealt with it.

Well took the SD9VE with just the Apex springs in it (& original S&W trigger) to the range today. Shot Russian steel ammo, Serbian brass & US brass, 115 & 124 grain FMJs. Functioned fine with all of it. Like how it is. Plan on installing the same springs in my SD9.

My smith installed the Apex kit in my SD9. I've had no issues at all. Trigger is smooth, much lighter that the stock trigger. Very happy with it. He did say it wasn't the easiest trigger kit to install.

I put that trigger & all but the firing pin spring in my 2 pistols.

Had too do a some filing for them too work GREAT but with the firing pin spring installed the trigger was very light for my taste.

Did a lot of mods. to both guns especially the frame & much polishing of parts, should have jut bought another M&P, LOL.

When I bought my SD9VE used, it already had the Apex trigger installed by the previous owner.. my thanks to him, bonus for me. I love the way it shoots with the Apex trigger. I have owned the SD40VE before without an Apex. I hated the way it shot, and didn't keep it long.
