Hello, I bought my first handgun a few days ago, A 4053 S&W. I really like the gun but the trigger pull is agonizing, being in mass our guns need to be " compliant" with the AG rules and obscene trigger pull weight is one of them. Can anyone point me in the right direction to spring kits?

Also I would like to get some extra mags, does anyone have experience with aftermarket mags or should I stick with genuine S&W ( if I can find them)?
Thanks in advance

I use the Wolff 17# or 18# hammer spring and find it to work quite well. I always install a new stock weight recoil spring whenever I get a used gun of unknown round count. Keep in mind there are two different 4053s', the single stack 8rd on the compact 45 frame and the double stack TSW 9rd on the 6900 size frame. The hammer spring is the same but just about everything else is different. Some of the guns use a dual recoil spring, these are only available from S&W. I always stick with S&W mags, it is your ammo feed device, if it don't work you don't shoot. If yours is the double stack TSW you can also use the 11rd full size mag and they offer a "plus 2" adaptor for the mag to fill out the grip.

Thanks for the quick reply, I have a single stack mag, so I take it my capacity is 8 + 1 then. I will look into the wolf springs, thanks!

I too have a single stack 4053. Nice handgun, so I bought a 4014 to keep it company. They use the same magazines. Factory mags are about the only way to go, unless you can snag some used ones from the forum. Happy shooting.
