Went to a local gun show this weekend, I took along a well used S&W 686 no dash 4" as trading fodder. Basically I am always only looking out for 3rd generations, they were a few, but nothing I did not already have in much better condition. Surprising there were two dealers with 4566 TSWs that were marked for Kentucky State Police, but never adopted. I have one and researched it alot, so I had nice conversations with the dealers, neither one knew the story behind the 4566's. I had numerous wholesale offers on the 686 but I wanted to trade. I did find a worthwhile trade. A LE NIB M&P 40, no lock,no mag disconnect, and no thumb safety. Also picked up a few S&W knives that were almost being given away, so the day wasn't too bad. Just forgive me since it was not a 3rd Generation.

Glad it worked out for you. Does anyone else notice the irony here? A well used 686 4" an even trade for a brand new plastic autoloader? The M&P is a nice gun, but a 686 it ain't.

You must have gone to the show in Bowling Green. I was there Saturday morning. I saw those two KSP 4566's that you are talking about. One of the dealers that had one fed me some total line of BS to try to sell me that gun!! It was a good show, though!

3rd gen. s&w

You done good. I wish I had more money to buy up one of everything. Mp40 is a good gun. I like the compact version

Slider,
You're on the right track if you can recognize a line of BS when it floats your way. You never know when you might want to use that line on some unsuspecting doo-dah. TACC1

It was Bowling Green, I went in early Saturday morning, made a quick round until the isles were filled with people and you couldn't get close to a table without getting pushed out of the flow. I had some other running to do so I left and went back in around 3:00, not much of a crowd then, thats when I did my trading. Overall, I think I came out ahead or got my moneys worth

I wanted to go to that show but I had to move my kids into their apartment and dorm in Lexington this weekend. Does the convention center put on gun shows very often?

greaT GUN, YOU'LL LOVE IT. I just happen to have my 40fs sitting on the table in front of me. I installed the new trigger FSS kit from Apex Tactical today, been playing with it since. Can't wait to shoot it again. I had just the sear upgrade that worked great for me this last year,.... but this new trigger is really amazing. Another funny coincidence for us, I just put a 686 plus on layaway.:)

I was at that show as well. I was trying to sell an unfired 311 20ga but I guess my price was too high. Funny thing is that I ended up going to a local GS right afterwords and wound up swapping straight across for a minty 6904. The few 3rd gens that I saw at the show were priced rather proudly.
