SW1911: .22LR Conversion kit?

I am looking at puchasing a SW1911SC 4.25" - Round Butt and I'd like to acquire a .22LR conversion kit as well.

I am trying to get an idea what people are using for .22 conversion on their SW 1911 and 1911 E Series guns. Is there a difference? I have been reading that Marvel and Tactical solutions are good, but I didn't want to commit $400+ before getting some opinions first. I like that the Tactical Solutions conversion is all steel and locks back after the last round is fired. Does it fit on the SW1911 those of you who have tried it?

Tactical Solutions 1911 conversion

Expecting delivery of one next week. I also wanted the steel construction and slide lockback. I'll post my impressions.

I went with the Tactical Solutions 2211 kit because I liked the steel construction and slide lock-back. I was also willing to pay a little more because the reports that I could find indicated that it worked well with just about any ammo, while many other kits seemed to be ammo sensitive. The mags are also a bit pricey, and they hang out of a standard magwell (designed for a magwell with a "funnel"), but are very high quality (machined from aluminum).
My conversion kit had one glaring problem; the ejector kept falling out about every 75 rounds (preceded by several failures to eject). The ejector sits in a slot and all that holds it in place is friction from a couple of miniscule set screws (they basically just clamp down on the ejector, and there are not even any little divots in the ejector for the screws to seat into). I contacted Tactical Solutions about it after it fell out and they sent me some new set screws with the allen-wrench to install them. The allen-wrench is so thin that it would just bend once I got the screws reasonably snug, and I was worried about stripping the screw heads, so I couldn't really get them as tight as I would have liked. After the ejector fell out again, I degreased and cleaned everything and applied some Loc-tite in the ejector slot. So far so good, it was rock solid after 150 rounds last time out and I'm planning to shoot it again tomorrow.
Other than the issue with the ejector, the kit has performed exceptionally well, and all malfunctions are directly attributable to the ejector loosening and coming out. It has eaten every kind of ammo I have tried with no complaints (Winchester, Federal, and CCI) and is quite accurate. It worked fine on my S&W1911 (108282), but currently resides on a reblued USGI frame.
As a side note, some brands of conversion kit are reported to work better with a lighter main spring (18lb I think), but the TS kit works fine with a stock main spring, so changing between .45 and .22 really is just a matter of swapping the slide assemblies. The TS kit is very easy to install. It is a little tricky to disassemble for cleaning the first time, but once you figure it out it is pretty easy (much easier than my Ruger MK III).

Update: Had my Tactical Solutions 2211 kit out at the range yesterday and put another 100 rounds through it with zero problems. The ejector is still rock solid, so it looks like the Loc-Tite is doing the trick. I ran the targets out to 15 yards and managed to keep the vast majority of the shots inside of a 2" circle, so I'm very pleased with how the TS kit is performing.

I depends on what you want to do with it, if you just want to plink and 2-3" accuracy , most have a hard time maintaining that, at 25 yards is ok. and you want the lockback feature there are several that fit the bill, tact sol's unit is one of the better one.
However if you want something a bit better, under 1" accurracy at 50 yards, changable ribs, the Marvel is the only way to go especially for the price. The lock back factor is only a pain if you are trying to do some tactical type training. To keep from firing the gun on an empty chamber you can load an empty casing first.
I think there is a more expensive,and you have to wait , version, from another Marvel website, he split off from the company. Where he machines into the slide a steel portion for the slidelock.
I have 2 and know many others who have never had any issues, they like standard vel cci, and other ammo, but shoot all brands w/o malfunctions ,in my experience. Again its what you need it for. good Luck, Bob
