Hey all my Sister husband passed away pretty suddenly a couple weeks ago and while I was helping her get some of his stuff cleaned up I came across a magazine he had and I would like to know what gun it is for.... it is marked

Smith and Wesson Springfield MA.
RESTRICTED: Export. Law Enforcement
and Goverment Use Only S/N91394

On the opposite side it is marked

Caution capable of firing with mag removed 9mm

It is a 17 round mag
Any one tell me what gun this goes to, my Sister said I could have it LOL so I took not knowing what I would do with it. I looked through his guns and it didnt go with any of the guns he had in his safe.
Thanks!!

Two possibilities, maybe more...for a full-size steel or alloy frame (590x series), or a Sigma semi-auto pistol. New magazines above 10 rounds were stamped like this from 1994-2004, during the good ol' "Assault Weapons Ban" years ;) .

I have a couple for my 5906 that are stamped with the same #. I know it'll fit a few other models but I don't know what they all are. I know that there are probably more than a few of us that would be interested in taking it off your hands if you have no use for it.

Due to the 17 round capacity, and without a picture, I would say it's a Sigma magazine......the 5906 factory mags were 15 rounds, with an optional 20 round mag available, but not 17......and the number on the mag is not a serial number, it simply means it was manufactured after September 13, 1994, i.e. a post ban mag......

Looks to be a Sigma magazine. BTW, they are legal to own, even with the ominous stamping.

Wow. Learned something new. Why would they mark different magazines with the same serial number? This just added to my already staggering confusion when it comes to all the models and their variants.

Reread post #4
That "date" puts it during the AWB ban as does the Restricted stamping.
So unfortunately it's NOT legal to own everywhere, (Referring to post #6).
It does look like a Sigma magazine. Product: SW9C Sigma Series Stainless Steel Magazine-16 RD

Wow I had forgotten about this thread. This mag is in fact for a Sigma series gun and I did the only logical thing I could think of with the mag.......I bought a gun to fit the magazine!
