How much is our S&W 3913 worth?

Pardon our ignorance and I apologize if this is the wrong section to post this in but my wife and I were looking to see how much our S&W 3913 was worth as we are looking to get something new. My wife won this from Ducks Unlimited quite a few years ago and it has been fired twice maybe three times in all of the years we have had it (about 30 or so rounds). It normally sits in a drawer and has been well taken care of (see pictures - we grayed out the s/n as we weren't sure). I was hoping you might be able to give us some estimates before we go new gun shopping around town. Thanks in advance for your help.

That is a very desirable gun and you should consider keeping it if you can.

I haven't seen a recent sale but I would guess that the gun in that condition with all of the goodies would sell for $550 in a private sale.

Locally that LNIB 3913 LadySmith would bring at least $600.......possibly a little more.

There are few out there in unused condition. Folks that have them generally don't part with them.

Those were the finest single stack 9mm CCW handguns produced by S&W. They no longer make any handguns as good or as nice as that 3913. Neither does anyone else for that matter.

I would seriously consider selling it were I you. Good luck! Regards 18DAI

Thank you very much! I did not realize it was worth so much. My wife has larger hands for a woman and never liked how it felt when she was shooting. Neither did I which is why we have barely used it.

I will have to ask my wife first as it is her gun but in case she says yes I have a couple of quick questions since we are both new to this. What would be the best and legal shipping method? How much would something like that cost to ship (we are in the Austin, TX metro area)? Finally, is there any special paperwork on our end that we would need to file / fill out showing that we sold the gun to you? Thanks.

jayman did you ever try the Hogue rubber grips? They make my 3913 fit my hand as if it were made for it.

May also help with your wifes larger hands as they change the trigger reach.

Should you decide to keep it of course.

Well all firearms transfers require an FFL to ship from state to state, I would have to send you a signed copy of my dealers FFL, who would have to receive it from you or your dealer and then transfer it to me. I think most dealers will do that for between 25-50.00s I guess the next question of the forum members is does anyone in your area Austin, TX know of a FFL willing to help you with transfer and shipping for a fair price? Billy

UPS will ship firearms (handguns & long guns) for private individuals. All the seller needs to do is take a copy of the buyers signed FFL to UPS. The UPS personnel look at the FFL and ship the weapon. I've done this successfully a number of times.

That may be true, but UPS requires overnight shipment, which is much more expensive than my FFL sending it priority mail. I can give the gun to my FFL and have a trackable transaction for $40, or send it myself UPS or FEd-Ex for $50 or more.

Thanks Tennesee Vol, we used to live in the Country between M'boro and Nashville, my Dad was an IP in the C-130 and stationed at Sewart, I think he was attached to the 314th TAS and the 772nd TAS, they move the school to Little Rock and he retired from LRAFB about 1972, moved back to Tenn, and then left the promised land for the land of Lincoln.

I used UPS to ship rifles on two separate occasions a few years ago. Each rifle cost me $30 to ship. Maybe prices have gone way up???

You can get at least $650 for that. If you put it on GB probably closer to $700. The Lady Smith sells for more than a 3913 and a 3913 NL.
With the case and bag I believe you will get close to or even a little more than $700. I would not take any less than $650.

Just my old fart opinion, but I have a 3913LS just like yours in like new condition and I would NOT take less than $700.00 for it. LNIB 3913LS's are few and far between, and apparently there are a lot of folks "out there" who know what a quality (and unusual and desirable) pistol it is.

I would put it on Gunbroker with a reserve close to $700.00 and see what interest you get. You might be surprised.

I sold a LNIB CS45 on GB last month for $775.00 + $30.00 shipping and the gentleman who bought it was glad to get it.

You can always ask any price you want, and if you don't get any responses in a reasonable period of time THEN you can reconsider your asking price.

I like GB.. I've sold several firearms (and bought several) there and have always been satisfied.

Thanks for all of the info guys. We really appreciate it as this this the first gun we have tried to sell. As soon as we sell it I have been given "senate approval" to replace it with a new M&P 9mm. I think I am leaning towards the Pro Series version.

These pistols are indeed unique, and seem to find their style in some of the older Walther PP style of pistol, or perhaps the Colt 1903. I sold ours because wifey was not comfortable with it, recoil spring is rather healthy as is the recoil itself, She ended up afteral sever range trips and trades with a K-17, five screw, course I had to install some pearlescent pimp grips in the smooth magna style, it was amazing how being confident in her ability to manipulate and manage the weapon, turned her rather deadly with that little Smith. I on the other hand have missed the 3913, and have been seeking another for our 14 year old twin daughters to try as they both like the looks of the Lady Smith, hey, I like it too!

I would STRONGLY ADVISE YOU to shoot an M&P 9mm before selling a superior handgun, the 3913LS, to purchase one.

Lousy, long, spongy triggers with indistinct reset and poor accuracy are hallmarks of the M&P 9mm. Don't take my word for it, do a Google search. Good luck! Regards 18DAI

Another Vote to Keep the 3913 over the M&P 9,Try some aftermarket Grips on the 3913 if your wife dosen't like the feel of the Factory ones.
