Default CS9 sight adjustment

I have a nice CS9 with stock sights and I have to hold up 3" and right 2" to get to point of impact, or the center bull. I believe that I can drift the rear sight to the right "just a smidge" to correct this but how much? I am betting that it is the tiniest of movements because of the short sight distance. In addition, is this just a press fit and how much do I have to tap/hit/whack this get movement? Next question, once I get it shooting properly left to right, should I drift some loktite in there? Is there any hope for the front sight to get it to shoot to point of aim? With the round white dot, any filing with destroy that so I could use some help.

thanks

If your CS9 is like the other Gen3 Smiths I've moved sights on, you're going to be hard pressed to adjust the rear with a punch. Actually, you'll be lucky to get it to move at all. Usually they are so tight they sound like a .22 going off when they break loose. Then again, you might get lucky.
You really need a sight pusher. This is where the shameless plug comes in. Check out this thread: http://smith-wessonforum.com/accesso...-xd-rated.html

This tool was originally designed to work on Smith Gen3's. I needed to move the sights on a 4006 and was too cheap to buy a sight pusher!

I've used a drift to adjust sights with no problem - both front and rear. The key is to make a very tiny scribe line so you know when it has moved. A sight pusher does make the job easier, but usually involves removing the decocker. It is not difficult to make shims out of hardwood or HMW plastic so it doesn't have to be removed, though.

If you remove the sights all the way, remember it comes out left to right and goes in right to left. And the rear sight has two tiny little neverfindem springs under the sight. It is a job to be done in a large plastic baggy and doesn't hurt to have spare springs available.

epj,
I have no issue with "shameless plugs" of products that one makes and markets. My only problem is that spending any money right now is difficult because of the holidays and the fact that I am out on disability for at least two more weeks, probably more, after surgery yesterday. Disability pays sucks. Plus the fact that this is the only pistol I have that needs a sight pusher and is my back-up carry and not normally used.

I think I will try some drifting and see what happens. If I can't get it done, I will be calling you when I am back at work.

Thank you both for your comments and Merry Christmas to all.

Gary
