My wish list for 2013 is a 4513 TSW, just wondering how tough they are to find and what i should be looking at for price. Keep in mind i live in Massachusetts where all prices are inflated. Also those that own a 4513, how do you like them.

I think you'll have your work cut out for you trying to find one in MA., unfortunately. Your best chance is probably GB, although there seem to be less of them available there lately too. But be patient. I just had a 3rd gen fall to me that I've been chasing for 3 yrs.. Those of us fortunate enough to have a 4513tsw really like them and more are probably holding on to them. Do a forum search. Price? That's a tougher question. Probably comes down to how patient you are willing to be and how much you're willing to shell out for a desirable, hard to find gun. Some of the ones I've seen on GB lately have shown some real wear and they still ask north of $450-$500 IIRC. If you really want one sooner than later, hate to say it, but unless you're really lucky, for a nice one, you're probably looking around $600 - $650.

I just picked up a like new 4513TSW for $499 with two mags. It was on GB with a buy it now at that price. My first 50 shots created slide marks which was kind of sad, putting wear on a classic gun like that, but that's what it was made for, and man does it shoot nice!! ;)

Definitely worth getting, one of my favorite guns!

Over the last few years the 4513TSW has become pretty scarce. I think $500 for a nice 4513TSW is a fair average price.

The early production 4513TSW without the rail and with the 6-shot magazine usually brings more than the later 7-shot variant. It was made in fewer numbers.

Like Lost Lake points out, you can still find nice examples on Gunbroker. For NIB examples I think that $600 is about the average. Well worth it IMO. Especially when you examine current production handguns and see the asking prices on those.

With the 4513TSW you are getting an accurate, reliable, durable, hammer fired metal framed compact 45. Those that have them keep them.

Well worth the wait, the search and the price when found. Good luck! Regards 18DAI

I agree with ALL the guys. A good 457 4516 4513 and Shorty45 are made to shoot straight and carry well. Never FTFeed or FTFire. Eats anything. Saw a guy once put 2 .40 rounds in his 45and fire them, and it still worked. no damage and no injuries. This is Ferrari Quality on a Cadillac budget.. I have 2 just because they are that good and addicting.. Fine craftsmanship that you can't find with a plastic Mattel gun. But that's just me..

Them that has them keeps them!
One fell into my lap couple years ago, a birthday present from my little brother. He got one of his department's slightly used ones (less than 1,500 rounds) before they traded them all in on new M&P's. (His had a documented 10,000 rounds, still looked and felt like new.)

Now that I know how good it is I would have paid more than the $275 the broker wanted at that time for the really used ones.

Great shooter, easy carry (my EDC) and good looking!

My M&P is a great shooter, but not as easy to carry and certainly not as good looking.

I wouldn't trade/ sell my 4513TSW no rail. I will sell most of my semi auto collection if needed as they are just guns. But the 4513TSW is on the no sell list. It's not a long list.
4513TSW, 3913, 1076.
So you will have a hard time finding the 4513TSW especially the no rail 6 shot. BUT.. luckily most of the shooting world only buys polymer stuff.
Good luck...$500-$600 is not out of line.

I never realized how lucky I was! Mine is the 6 round mag no rail... It was just sitting on GB with no bids.

So do keep looking... And type in different searches because 4513 TSW is different than 4513TSW and some are listed as 4513 Tactical.

Very good advice Lost Lake. I just found an original version, 6-round mag, sitting on Gunbroker with no bids.

It had some cosmetic issues. Wear from holster and evidently some banging around from being in a tub full of surplus LE guns. Nothing that looked too serious. It did have two brand new mags with the original rounded base plates, Novak Night sights and was decock only. Also had Hogue grips already cut and installed.

The decock only feature is a nice option. I have it on a few of my S&W 45's. Never saw it on the 6-round 4513 though. $400? OK. Sold to me.

Why didn't one of you buy it, so that I didn't have to? ;) Regards 18DAI

Next time you tell me about it and I will buy it so you don't have too!! :D

$400 seems like a nice price. Good catch!

OK guys, I think it is time to post an envy photo or two.... ;)

7+1, no rail, de-cocker, night sights.

Okay, two can play at that game... :p

The .4513 is the one on top ;)

Lucky, lucky, LUCKY you! I'm turning green with envy over here.
Hopefully you bought a lotto ticket the same day!:cool:

I am bummed! I thought I had a 4513TSW locked in since a buddy offered me his at a decent price, but then he had a change of heart & decided to keep it. So keep looking, right? I did see one on Gunbroker that looked pretty good. I went a lot higher than I wanted to, but the other dude wanted it more. Lost Lake,
18DAI, what really bums me out is that you two found yours on GB & I don't even recall those auctions. I mean I TROLL that site & four others twice a day & I didn't see them. I guess I must have been snoozing, & we all know what happens when you do that. Oh well, the quest continues...

I too have the six shot no rail....lucky find at the LGS...Not gettin rid of this one

Just keep watching Gunbroker and Auctionarms timn8er. When you just about give up, one will appear with a $425 "but it now". ;) You might also post a WTB in the classifieds here. Lots of good folks here who won't gouge you on the price.

I'll keep an eye out for you too. I'm going to the Winston-Salem show Saturday.

I'll wager that shortly you will find the 4513TSW with your name on it. Good luck! Best regards, 18DAI

I found mine the same way. Here's mine wearing a Hogue grip.

You know the 4513TSW model being in as much demand and scarce as it is, we call that a clue in my profession. ;)

One would think that the current company calling itself S&W would get a clue and make some more of that model. I won't hold my breath on that.

In the meantime, I've Emailed Hogue and encouraged them to consider making a grip for the early version. I also Emailed Pierce regarding the possibility of an extended baseplate for the 6-round mags or an adapter so the 7-round mags would be seemless for use in the original 4513TSW.

If anyone else thinks those items would be handy to have, you might Email your interest to those companies as well. Regards 18DAI
