6-rd 4513 TSW! How Desirable? Value? Differences vs others?

I agree with Fastbolt we used the Win RA45T+P and Federal HS +P and those rounds were tough on the recoils springs of all the compact 4516/13, CS guns. Hard on the alloy frames also. It was a good day when we dropped the +P stuff, IMO.

Thanks,
Overall standard pressure hst is favorite for most .45 pistols...

Here is my 6-round 4553. Bought it from a forum member a few years ago. It’s in the non-so-regular carry rotation. It is compact but still a lot of gun for 6+1 rounds. Carry it just to be an old school pimp sometimes. Had two of them and foolishly sold one. Somebody made an offer too good to refuse. Should have kept the gun. To the OP’s question, there is a huge demand for the short / no rail 4513 and 4553.

Watchdog Tactical, a Charlotte, NC company, custom made a perfect appendix carry holster for this gun. Of note, I had Watchdog mold the holster for the Model 457. The 457 slide is more square cut than the radiused / rounded corners on 4513/4553. This way the holster fits both 457 and 4513/4553.

Very cool setup! I like it's ability to be carried 7 or 8+1...even 9 feels a bit low on capacity but should be enough for most.

Did they have a 457 around to mold on? clicks locks into place enough for upside down when loaded light bouncing?

I brought them a 457 to mold around :)

Yes, it “clicks.” It’s well made.

Updating my earlier post, I purchased a 4513 today. Comes with only one 6 round magazine. Now I will be looking for more of those mags. I was at a large gun show 2 weeks ago and fortunately came upon some gen 3 mags. I purchased some 945 mags as well as some 4516 mags. Also bought some 6906 mags. No 3913 mags though.

So I am pretty well set except for the 6 rounders. Yesterday (expensive week) I purchased a 4046. I will need some more mags for that too. The search goes on.

The 6 round mags are out there. I found 2 or 3 right after I bought mine. Two of them were listed as CS45 mags, but were actually 4513 mags.
Some don’t notice that little indent at the top marks it as a CS45, or don’t know about the notched grip 4513.

I thought the CS45 and 6rd 4513TSW mags were interchangeable. Pictures of difference please. I would like to know if my CS45 mags are really CS45 or 6 rd 4513TSW.

Also just for info, I thought the 4513TSW 7rd were same as late 4516-2 with black follower. I have both and except for early 4516 and 4516-1 with colored followers the black follower 7rd mags appear to be the same.

Here’s a couple with a 945-1 one also. I like the TSW base pads on my CS45 and 40 mags.

I’ve said it before but I’m sure they just used the CS45 magazines and made another cut for the 945.

My incoming 4513 has one 6 round magazine. I believe the CS45 and 6 round 4513 mags are interchangeable. After looking I found the above mentioned site has the CS45 mags in stock.

This is from a post by 18dai:
Yes, the 6 round CS45 mags work in a pre rail 4513TSW. I have mistakenly picked up CS45 mags and used them, at the range, in my 4513TSW. And vice versa.

But when carrying, I ONLY use the factory OEM mag that goes with the pistol it was designed for. I am not sure the extra detents at the top of the CS45 mags (to keep the next round up from moving forward under recoil) would pose a problem in the 4513TSW - and the few times I used them they did not - but I would not want to discover that they can cause a malfunction, in the middle of an "unfortunate incident". Regards 18DAI

Edited to add: The S&W 3rd Gen 7 and 8 round mags also work in the pre rail 6-round 4513TSW. I have used them multiple times at the range, testing to make sure they did. Back when I still worked Investigations, I often carried either a 7 round or 8 round mag as a reload.

The first pic that 4t5guy posted shows the difference between the two.

A couple of years ago a seller on ebay had 15 4513TSW 6 rnd magazines for BUY NOW. They were advertised as CS45 ones. NOS no packaging for $35.00 ea. Not the best deal but good to me. I bought 5 and and then posted about them. The post was taken down and I received an infraction but it was worth it cause I found out others here got some.

Keep looking for them cause they do show up. Sometimes even here.
