Hi to all Am looking at a S&W 4506-1. Maybe low round count with all the factory stuff What would be a reasonable price That other site is listing bid of $280 to mid $400 Guy wants mid $500 but would be 1/2 day round trip to just see it. What are positives/negatives to this model Thanks to All

These are really great guns and they are NOT GOING DOWN in price. I bought my 4506 no dash from a LGS over a year ago for $530 out the door. And, I was not unhappy with the price. I'd be tempted to take that 1/2 day round trip to have a look.

Good luck in finding yours. When you do, you will love it! Mine has become one of my very favorite handguns and certainly my favorite 3rd Generation.

Prices are all over the place for the 4506 & a lot of S&W's. They aren't getting cheaper, that's for sure. In the case of the 4506-1, many people are trying to find one right now. This will, of course, drive up the price. Mid $500's sounds about right.

I paid four bills out the door for one about two weeks ago.

One magazine, no box or anything else. But I got lucky. If you can get a nice one for mid five bills as you say. Then you are doing all right. The one I got two weeks ago was the first one that I have seen for sale here in VA in years.

I can't help you with a fair price for a 4506-1 because I'm prepared to pay just about anything if I ever manage to find a nice one for sale in nutty, crazy-restricted Massachusetts. :o

I had found a 4506 (No Dash) a while back for $575 but I didn't like the terrible, worn-down sights on it. Wasn't too keen on the square trigger guard at the time either. Was told they would make me a great cash deal on it but I thought I could do better. It sold about 2 months later for full asking price. Now I am crying about that. :( I haven't seen any version of the 4506 since. :o

Scored a 5904 98% with all the factory stuff and an extra SS mag for $375 last week That why I'm leery of the $550 tag for a Gen 3

Two years ago I bought a NIB 4506-1 (possibly v.3) for $550. Positive it was never shot or < a mag through it. Bought another late last year for $400 only because the poor gentleman needed money badly.

You're comparing apples & oranges. I don't think S&W made near as many 4506-1's as they did any of the 9mm 3rd Gens, so there is a lot more demand as there is less supply. That is a good price you got, though. If $550 is too rich for your blood for a 3rd Gen, you're 3rd Gen buying days are probably over.

Was happy to pay $420 a few months back for my 4506-1 with one mag that was need of a thorough cleaning.

I payed $550.00 for an as new in the box 4506-1 (Dash3 R4) with 3 mags, box spare recoil spring and paperwork last year. Although I would have loved to get it cheaper but feel like I got a good deal.

2012 I paid $515 for my 4506-1 with 2 mags in about 80-90% condition.
