I looked over a PC 945-1 for an aquaintance today. All stainless 5 inch gun with roll marks.

Serial number RSA3XXX. Very nice pistol. The owner was wondering when it was made, what the product code is and an approximate value.

Any 945-1 owners have that info handy? Thanks! Regards 18DAI

If I am connecting the dots correctly (based on what @625smith shared), the product code could be 170173.

Thank you gentlemen for the fast replies and info! :) Much appreciated!

Would either of you opine as to the retail price of the gun (identical to the gun 625smith shared) with stainless PC box and 1 mag?

Edited to add: What recoil spring for the 5 inch 945-1? Will the 4506-1 spring work?

Also, the edge of the round bushing on his guide rod has a flat spot. At first, I thought the edge had broken, but it appears to have a machined flat on it. Is that how they are? Thanks again!

MSRP in 2007 was $2,070 and then $2,156 in 2008. The 945-1 with RSA-prefix is the most common 945 in the largest supply, these tend to go for $1200-$1500 these days. The odd 945 variants in shorter supply usually go for more.

The PC case is aluminum, these typically come with two magazines and an extra, lighter recoil spring. The magazines are scarce -- exact same mag body, spring, follower, floor plate and retainer as 4506 mags, but the magazine catch is higher on the body of the magazine. Early 945 mags had dual cuts in the mag body and can be used with either pistol.

They are extremely accurate, beautiful pistols.

I believe it is the same recoil spring as the 4506 and yes, that guide rod is proper and correct for a PC gun.

My 945-1

Reading this thread made me think about my 945-1 that has not been out of the safe in ages. I guess it is a 170222 SKU, but it does not have the billboard "945" on the slide. Serial number is BAM001x.

I haven't fired any of my toys for over a week at the moment, took a fall while trying to land without being hurt I tried to roll and broke my r/hand and wrist. Happened on our slippery surface of a pistol firing line at my gunclub. Still got 5 weeks to go with a cast covering my entire r/hand and forearm. Maybe I will try shooting left handed? Report to follow.
